For recruiting purposes, the last place they want to be is PAC or BIG. If they want to come over as anything other than an equal member, drop them like a cheating girlfriend.

I can't believe the SEC would in anyway agree to anything other than equality. Now, if they want FOX and the Mouse to show how much they would love to have them on their network, that may be a different story. If that is it, that is interesting.

Maybe they want someone to pay the penalty for them, be it the Big Ten or some network.

Maybe they want to hear minimum payout guarantees from all parties

I'm just saying this is not done. As you guys have said, there cannot be any formal agreement between UTOU and the SEC. That would trigger the penalties.

So we have nothing but the SEC brand being used by a couple of Schools to negotiate with.

I'm simply saying, the SEC should take the no nonsense, hard arse approach, and not wait this out while UTOU maneuver around the "college landscape".

ESPN (lhn cost) and big donors at texas and ou will help cover the cost of the exit fee -- roughly around 80 million each or so.

As opposed to cooperating with the likes of Tech, Oklahoma, Okie State, Kansas, Kansas State, Iowa State, and West Virginia?

I think it's faculty pressure at UT. They don't see research collaboration with the SEC. They are insisting that the admin flush out a Big 10 offer.

You and I know that this would be a disaster for UT and OU athletics. They would both be Nebraska'ed. But the UT left wing faculty probably hopes UT football goes away forever. It's such a misogynistic sport. And, collaborating with a bunch of southeastern hillbillies is too damaging to the their reputations.

I would not be surprised at all if that is happening. Arrogance is a strong motivator amongst the educator class. Everyone talks about 'equality and acceptance' these days but I don't believe that covers us 'southeastern hillbillies.'

This is from today.

Now they want the Big 10, PAC, ACC and SEC to start the bidding.

If this is the case, the SEC should issue a statement today saying they are no longer interested.

No man, no one has publicly said they are joining the SEC. If you asked Sanky he will say "no comment". Same with the schools. They had to word it that way. And by saying they will honor their current contract through 2025, that just means monetarily. I still think they end up buying it out and coming sooner.

I can't imagine that they will stick it out till 2025. I think another poster nailed it when they said TX/OU are probably hoping this announcement means that the Big12 will dissolve on its on and they get out of the buyout

Have to admit, watching the horns get tossed around the first few years in the SEC will be enjoyable. Almost every Saturday will be a dangerous game, and Maryland isn't even in the conference.

It appears to be nothing more than a "non-committal" statement to prevent any accusation that they've already left the conference, so that if/when 2-3 more schools from the Big12 decide to leave, then they have the required 4 schools to avoid paying out 75M/school to get out of their GOR. You don't meltdown your conference to start a bidding war... you do it once you already know you have a landing spot.

That actually sounds like what they are doing, which means any hope at keeping those burnt orange assholes the frick outta the SEC is dwindling quickly.

We'll all just need to beat the frick out of them and be done with it.

I am actually interested in seeing how the fricking longhorns operate in a conference where they have equal shares and power. I predict that it will be funny, to tell you the truth.

Good Lord, this is almost word for word the initial release used by both ATM and MU 10 years ago. This deal is done.
