Yet before Kirby we still had more SEC Championships than Tennessee this century.

If you gonna look at it like that, then there is only one that
has won 6 NC's this century.
Alabama, so the Big 1.

Tennessee has won 2 legit National Championships. But if we are going to go by your standard to claim 6, we will just counter with UGAs.
Georgia has been selected eight times (1920, 1927, 1942, 1946, 1968, 1980, 2021, 2022) as national champions from NCAA-designated major selectors.[7] Georgia claims four national championships (1942, 1980, 2021, and 2022).[8] In 1980 they finished as the only undefeated team after a victory in the 1981 Sugar Bowl, and were named the national champions by all four major consensus selectors [9] (AP, Coaches, FWAA, and NFF). In 2021 they won the College Football Playoff, defeating Alabama in the CFP National Championship Game, ending a 41 year title drought. In 2022 they won the 2023 CFP National Championship Game after going 15-0 as the only undefeated team.

UGA, Florida, LSU, and Bama have multiple nattys and SEC Championships this century.
Auburn only has one natty.
Tennessee doesn’t have any Nattys or SEC Championships this century. If Tennessee deserves “Big 6” recognition, so does Ole Miss.
One of these schools is not the flagship in their state. Auburn should really never win SEC or National Champs, yet we've done both several times.
Also, only people who went to schools that suck at other sports are always the ones who say football is the only thing that matters.

I’m not sure why anyone would care about those stats that happened before we were alive. Tenn is a non factor in my lifetime. Or at least since I was 5.

Auburn hasn’t won shite in any other sports. At least UGA has a natty in baseball.

No team outside those 6 have won it period since the 60s. Probably before integration.
Yes, this is what I am talking about.

This is all about Johnny-come-lately Georgia. You can’t get enough attention can you?

Better to come lately than not at all. Just ask your wife.
Posted on 2/4/23 at 10:52 pm to Uga Alum
Not really. It hasn’t taken us 40+ years between titles
Posted on 2/4/23 at 11:03 pm to VolNavy98
There were 47 years between 1951 and 1998.

This is the argument you have resorted to? Pathetic. You haven’t been relevant in two and a half decades. Not only have you not won a natty in the timeframe, you haven’t won the SEC. UGA has never had a dry spell like that in the history of our program. You should feel bad.

How old was you last year when UT painted Death Valley Orange and White? 40-13 ring a bell?

quote:While I disagree with the OP's premise, taking a random shot at LSU doesn't help your case .
Tennessee has won the SEC in Baseball and Basketball just last year. 40-13 is the last thing I remember about LSU football. Death Valley is joke.
Congrats, you beat up a team rebuilding from a couple mediocre seasons, with a 1st yr head coach. That's your claim to being elite?
And the Big 6 is clearly, obviously football. The Alabama poster who said "Big 1 and the rest"... that applies more to basketball and Kentucky, than to Alabama and football.

Heupel took over a 3-7 team. UT is under investigation because of Pruitt. UT was rebuilding last year also. And according to 247, LSU had the #5 most talented team in the country. End of the day UT beat your arse in a rebuilding year.

I mean, that's the basis of the OP, that Tennessee and Auburn aren't truly worthy of keeping that distinction.
Auburn can make it's case, saying Tuberville didn't get the same respect Saban did. Saban got a BCS title in 03 with a 1-loss team, Tuberville didn't get an invite in 04 with an undefeated team (one that unseated the defending national champ). That lack of respect would not occur, if it happened in the middle of the SEC's run, instead of the beginning of it.
Miss State blew LSU out a few years ago, too. That doesn't make them a Big 6 team.
And no, you don't get to take LSU out of the Big 6 for those losses, either. From 2000-2019, LSU's worst record still had 8 wins, team went 14-7 in the postseason (bowls and playoffs); went to Atlanta 5 times, won 4; went to 4 national championships, won 3.
So again, instead of taking shots at other schools, why don't you build your case for why Tennessee is still a Big 6 program?
