I still think the SEC W is the best division top to bottom

Not the highest praise since every team in the P5 looks to have warts this season, but some solid teams in that division. ACC Atlantic looks to have fallen off, B1G E might get back up but that Ohio St loss was rough. No other division has more than 1 really good team.

But that doesn't make up for the other side of the SEC. I don't believe I've ever seen an entire P5 division included in the Bottom 10 with the like of UMASS, UTEP and Bowling Green (to be fair, UGA looks pretty damn impressive, especially if ND continues to look good).

How do I love an entire division in the Coveted Fifth Spot? Let me count the ways.

Well, Vanderbilt does have a win over KSU, who was ranked when they played them. Of course, then they called out Bama. So now after getting walloped by them, everyone assumes they suck. Vandy might win 9 games this year for all we know and win their bowl game.

Everyone is very reactionary.

That division isn't great but it already has wins over Kansas State, Notre Dame, NC State and Georgia Tech.

It certainly isn't as bad as it was a couple years ago.

I don't think they suck. Vandy's defense looked worse against Bama than they probably are. It's quite amazing how Bama consistently beats the frick out of teams they're supposed to beat, while all the other upper-echelon teams around the country are least occasionally challenged by lesser opponents. Bama is largely immune to upsets, which all but guarantees them at least ten wins a year.

Pretty sad about it.

Alabama has like 67 consecutive wins versus unranked teams. The Saban process dominates those they're supposed to. But treating each game the same doesn't always lead to a equally impressive resume in big games.

Now, Saban has an envious record there as well, but not like Carroll did at USC. However, Carroll was prone to the upset more often with his emotional approach.

That's possible, but a game like that has a way of demoralizing a team, especially early in the season. That was a legendary arse-beating.

Look, the East has been a punching bag lately, and rightfully so. But the East has closed the gap and with quality non-conference wins would not be considered the worst division anymore imo. Vandy and UK are pretty good. UF and UT are 3-1 (even if not pretty) and UGA is far better than they were last year- the clear #2 team....closer to Bama at 1 than Auburn at 3 imo.

Except that he's like 50-16 against ranked opponents. And like 80% against top 5 opponents. I don't care to look up the numbers anymore. I'm crying again so probably need to quit talking about it.

it must not fit the 4-letter network's desired narrative to mention 6 of 7 schools in the SEC-E are a combined 18-5 through 4 weekends. 5 of the 6 have a single loss while the 6th is undefeated. apparently the former B12 school (7th in the division) is just pulling the other 6 down with its record.

meanwhile - there's another conference in the Eastern US that has 4 teams with losing records, 2 in each division.

SEC-E 19-8 ...teams w/losing records, 1
SEC-W 19-7 ...teams w/losing records, 1

ACC-A 17-9 ...teams w/losing records, 2
ACC-C 17-8 ...teams w/losing records, 2
