I'd wager the 2017 season is as close as you'll get for a long time
5 years ago we were 1 play away from playing for the title and people said that was as close as we'd get in decades. Fast forward 5 years and we were 2 plays away from winning the national title, only difference now is we have majorly upgraded at HC and our recruiting is beginning to be elite.
I fully expect us to take a step back in '18 simply because of our defensive personnel losses, but anyone that doesn't think '19 and onwards is going to see UGA in playoff contention pretty much yearly is just fooling themselves.

Must be. He's always been a few IQ points above having to wear a helmet for daily activities.

Over the last 4 years GT is 28-22 and Auburn is 33-20, so it's not like there is some huge gap between Auburn and GT.
Does Georgia Tech play in the SEC west or schedule the 2 teams who play in the title game every year?

Auburn's record after Peach Bowl appearances is... well pretty exciting if you're a Bama or Georgia fan.
The most recent being 2012.

We also opened in Atlanta in 2012.

There is a MASSIVE gap between gt and auburn. One school actually plays real football and has talent and can compete for big things occasionally, the other has to use an archaic outdated HS system to mask their ragtag collection of 2* that can barely keep their head above water in a weak conference.

Maybe, but who the hell knows? The same shite was being said about Gus, Muschamp, and McElwain. You won't truly know what you have in a coach until he replaces his roster and has to deal with losses on the coaching staff.

Lol we would beat the brakes off ucf. Just because you guys choked. Doesn't mean UGA would.

Quick, name the last team to win a NC besides Bama.... The state of Alabama rocks.. (AUBURN)
Now list the SEC teams that have won a BCS or Playoff NC (not poll BS when UGA beat #7 ND). As proved this year, polls suck.
BAMA (5)
Florida (2)
LSU (2)
Auburn (1)
Tennessee (1)
UGA (ZERO).....
Remember MR was only seconds away in his second year.

Based on what
Tubs actually won every game on his schedule.

I didn't bring GT into the conversation.
Fact is, though, that the ACC has been close to the SEC the last 3-4 years.

You also have to realize UF and UTk aren't going to roll over forever.
What Saban has done is pretty impressive if you are honest about it. But in truth bama to some extent has been doing it (SEC related) pretty much for it's entire history. The SEC used to have a tougher time winning titles because of the media outlets being in Pac 10 and Big 10 footprints...plus Texas.

The same shite was being said about Gus
Gus had a lights out first year with a semi-unique system, then a mediocre next 4 seasons.
quote:
Muschamp
Muschamp had a poor first season, "great" second season that amounted in zero hardware of any kind (not even the east), and a dreadful 3rd and 4th season. Never fielded even an adequate offense
quote:
McElwain.
Anyone with eyeballs saw that mcelwain capitalized on a weak division (and was blown out in the SECCG both years). Like muschamp, never fielded even a kind of good offense.
Kirby had a better year 2 than any of those other coaches in their careers (you could argue tied with Gus, losing late in the title game, although we had to play an extra game that AU did not). Kirby has shown he can field an excellent offense as well as D/ST. But more importantly, none of thsoe above coaches have recruited like Kirby. Kirby had a 3rd ranked class after year 1 and the 2nd highest class of all time in year 2.

I agree that you need 4 years to really evaluate a coach, but it's not like we're talking about losing all americans and hoping to replace them with good talent (going from good to unkown). Kirby has already in 2 years massively upgraded our overall talent (espcially on the LOS where you win games) and isn't slowing down.
