I knew Texas was a perennial underachiever, but this is just pathetic for a "blue blood"

The Texas Longhorns are consistently ranked as a blue blood in the sport of college football, yet their achievements on the field over the last 50 years are closer to that of Auburn than they are to Oklahoma or Alabama.
In the last half century, Texas can only lay claim to one national championship (2005). Since the Big 8/SWC merger in 1996, they have won only four conference championships (1996, 2005, 2009, and 2023). Despite all of their money and prestige, their on-field accomplishments are well below what one would expect from them. Yet their fans try to convince us that they are the greatest thing since sliced bread.

No one does less with more.

This is why they obsess over “aggy” - to try and puff themselves up when the reality is:

They’re the #1 spender in college football yet they haven’t won a single title in over twenty years.
As long as the oil money never dries up in this state, they’ll always be willing to blow millions on a sport that they’ll forever be an underachiever. Such is the pity of the sip.

No breathing Aggy fan should be talking about anyone else doing less with more…
But, we get it, you two are exactly alike

Back to back 40 million dollar rosters and they had almost 5 losses in 2025

Imagine a world before uncapped pay-for-play where Aggy was signing 5* recruits from out-of-state…
Hell, they wouldn’t even take a VISIT to College Station before uncapped pay-for-play.
Outside of maybe Texas Tech, no program needs uncapped pay-for-play to be relevant more than Aggy.

We are very much alike in that we’re both major underachievers despite the boatloads of money we spend on athletics.
We aren’t alike in that they love to boast about their football program as if they’re the greatest thing to have ever happened in human history. We don’t brag at all about our program, we just like to rag on others when we beat them. There’s a difference.

We're running out of time to justifiably use this excuse, but for most of our history we've been closer in size and finances to Baylor than to Texas.
From 1922 until 1987, A&M and LSU played 29 times.
All but 2 of these were in Baton Rouge, and the other two were neutral sites.

That’s a small, delusional portion of our fanbase that have never been outside of Texas, let alone College Station.
Most of us have enough sense to know at this point that our program probably won’t amount to anything significant in the distant future, and we’ve accepted that. It makes us appreciate winning a lot more compared to other programs.

Yeah, LSU was on the straight and narrow ahead of NIL
