However, South Carolina invented Cajun food before the French Canadians sailing around the coast stole the idea while moving to south Louisiana, and then pawned it off as their own creation
Facts. Justin Wilson opened EVERY episode of his TV show with this very fact. Low Country seafood is as good as Louisiana (not better but as good) and South Carolina BBQ is infinitely better than the roast beef that passes for BBQ in Texas. Most of the SC coast and Georgia coast as well is now over-run with retirees from the NE who could not bring themselves to put up with the craziness of Florida but could no longer tolerate New Jersey winters. Myrtle Beach and Charleston are both horrible places but Beaufort is still tolerable...and the up state is as nice as it ever was which is at least as nice as most of the south. The midlands are what they have always been.

No dog in the hunt, but that’s funny given the one time I was bitten by bed bugs was in Blue Ridge, Georgia. And I’ve stayed at some sketchy spots in Cambodia, Vietnam, Botswana…
Odds are better than good that an old gal that went about 3fiddy from Anderson brought them thangs to the clean pristine environs of Blue Ridge on her honeymoon.

Dear God, in terms of beaches tell me this is a joke. That’s like saying the Appalachians are much better than anything the Rocky Mountains have to offer.
The Appalachians are infinitely more attractive than the Rockies. The rockies are named what they are because they all look like fricked up versions of Stone Mountain. There are only 2 types of trees and they are scarce. Meanwhile Appalachia is one of the most bio-diverse areas on the planet in both plant and animal life. There really is no comparison between the two. The Appalachians are the most visually stunning mountain range on the planet and it ain't close.
You have a point about gulf coast beaches west of applachicola and east of New Orleans...there ain't any better beaches on the planet and it ain't close.

In SC, they say "Bo" not "Baw". Also, go frick yourself.
I’m in SC, baw. We don’t say “bo”. Dumbass.
You may not but a heaping pile of folks from SC and East Georgia do indeed say "beaux"....I bet I am called "Beaux" at least 10 times a day. It is common. I went fishing with a bunch of folks from South Carolina just a couple of weeks ago and the boat driver from Florida thought everyone on the boat was named Bo....including himself....

The don't it call the Gulf 'The Redneck Riviera' for nothing.
Every broke arse redneck and ghetto rat in Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, and Louisiana flock there.
You ain't wrong...but the same crowd winds up on the coast of south carolina as well as north carolina and they are joined up by the same class of trash hailing from New Jersey and Massachusetts. There ain't no trash on the planet like the trash that goes on vacation FROM New Jersey....

Non-resident GA fishing license is $10 for one day plus $3.50 per day after that. Seven days will cost you $31.00 in GA unless you want to add a trout non-resident trout stamp for another $25.00 bringing the total to $56.00. I paid a tad over $50.00 for a TN license to fish three days in the Smokies over Labor Days weekend. (Gonna pay another $62.50 to the State of Montana to fish from Sept 29 through Oct 2 in a couple weeks as well. Fishin' out of state is expensive everywhere for non-residents.)
Georgia non-resident fishing license costs $1 a year per 1189 square miles of area you can fish with said license. That same $1 a year is only good for 1105 square miles in South Carolina. Both states share similar population density so the liceense in Georgia is a better value. Not to mention the fishing is also better in Georgia...

The "Rocky Mountains" are 10 mins from my doorstep, yet my mind dreams of the Appalachians.

I feel you brother. I lived in the Rockies, they are gorgeous. I lived in the Cascades. Breathtaking. I Lived and worked in the Swiss, German, Austrian and Italian Alps. Stunning. Same is true of the Dolomites. While all of them are beautiful none come close to the haunting allure of my native Appalachians. Not even close.
