Michigan and Ohio State have fan bases made up of many transplants that live all over the country-West Coast, East Coast and Florida. The SEC fan base doesn’t have a large number of fans outside the South. Notre Dame also has a large fan base all over the country. Having a fan base that spans the country means higher TV ratings.

Why the National media shoves this game down our throats every year I have no idea
Especially the way they shove Michigan down our throats. OSU I can understand, they are a very good program and have been for many years now. But to listen to the media this year you would think Michigan is this elite team and they haven't played anybody. I think Ohio State takes care of them on Saturday but if Michigan somehow wins and makes the playoffs they will get steamrolled by Bama or Georgia, or heck, probably even by any other team in the playoffs. So overrated. I don't get the national media love affair with Meechigan.

1. Iron Bowl
2. Egg Bowl
3. UF vs FSU
4. Clemson vs USCe
That just keeping it to games played on this weekend and also keeping it to SEC teams.
Big 10 football is boring so you watch it.
I didn’t say that Army or Navy would beat either Michigan or OSU. I’m saying it’s a better game based on the way the fans care plus it can be a very entertaining game most likely. All these teams I listed you can throw out records but typically these rivalry games run hot between the fans. Just as hot if not more hot than Michigan and OSU. I will throw you a bonus game. Texas A@M and LSU has become a pretty good rivalry since A@M joined the SEC.

Outside of the Iron Bowl, no one cares about any of those games. THE GAME will always be the biggest game.

This, the media will make this the “greatest” rivalry because they can and do make the most money off it.
I’m biased, but from a pure football entertainment perspective I think the Egg Bowl beats it easily. Fans hate each other, half the time they fight, it’s usually a good game that’s no stranger to big upsets, and the general antics that make for memes that last years….but the market for two Mississippi teams playing is probably 1/0th that of Michigan/OSU.

I love watching the Egg Bowl. It usually is the most chippy rivalry game on the field which makes for good watching no matter the record.

OSU/Michigan is a great rivalry. Whether deserved or not, both teams are usually highly ranked going into the game, and there are usually at least conference if not national championship implications depending on the outcome. It may not have the sheer vitriol of an Iron Bowl or a Clemson/USC, but it's probably the greatest interstate rivalry in the sport.

Ohio State fans would never root for Michigan in any circumstance what so ever and vice versa.
Some of you guys would root for your biggest SEC rival in a bowl game.
There is your difference.

Only Michigan fans would revere a mediocre coach like Schembechler. 0fer his first 7 bowl games. In the SEC, he'd get run. In Ann Arbor, he's a hero. His whole career in the B1G it was a 2 team conference. Beat Ohio State and that's it.

Dude you do not get it. We do not root for our rivals in a bowl game. We root for the SEC in bowl games and there is a big difference. We know the SEC is most likely gonna be judged on its W-L record in bowl games and big OOC games. If the SEC does well in both situations the perception nationally is that the SEC is the best and strongest conference so that could get 2 SEC teams into the playoffs in which we hope our teams are one of them. If it’s close getting just one in that national perception could make the difference. Plus fans of the SEC are proud of the fact we play in the toughest conference and do not run from hard games. That’s why you hear the SEC chant after big bowl wins.

Texas & Oklahoma say hello. USC & UCLA are waving at you.

Army vs navy better than Michigan vs OSU this a real comment ? This can’t be real. I don’t believe a human with a brain can think this.

No I totally get it. You would rather see your most hated rival win a game so you can chant SEC SEC SEC..
While if Bama played Michigan in the playoff the whole state of Ohio would be riding that elephant.

If you do not think alArmy and Navy is a huge rivalry game you have no brain. There is a lot of passion connected to that game and it’s very unique. You should watch sometime and learn something l.
