feel bad for Auburn??? are you kiddin' me?

I was VERY impressed with Newton, as well, but "best player ever" in the SEC? are you kiddin' me?

there are rules. follow the rules. end of story.

why do people want to justify behavior that violates the very definition of amateur athletics?
this is COLLEGE Football. The whole premise is you play for your school, not a paycheck. The paychecks come later when you go to work...wherever that may be.
enough with the whole pay for play angle.

honestly, i dont think anything comes from this story, anyway.

Why do people feel that student athletes should be "compensated"... They are getting a free ride to some of the best schools in America as well as getting treated like kings! Stay in the best hotels, take chartered flights, as well as get meals paid for with housing. How is that not enough?

I think his point is that the money is there and these "kids" are being used to make it.

Only you, in your alternate universe, could feel bad for one of our main opponents and think our head coach is great.

are you kidding me? they are legal adults and are being profited on for millions of dollars. what if the guy gets hurt and it ruins his carreer chances in the nfl? In baseball they can go pro after high school and basketball is somewhat the same (i think but don't know). The whole system is a money making maching. Why don't we have playoffs yet?

And why shouldn't' they get compensated? The ncaa, sec, and schools are raking in millions of the sweat and blood off these young men. But it's "not right" or "damages the integrity of the game" when they get paid?

they are paid...in college tuition, housing, food, and other living expenses. their tuition alone adds up to be at least $60,000 for 4 years to play football and receiver a degree. on top of that, they get a pretty decent sized stipend for a college student every month. plus, its all an investment to them, because if they stick it out and after four years they've done well, they make millions in the pros.

oh and God doesn't bless with illegal money.

Funny how you guys are talking like you know all the facts . The only fact so far is that Kenny Rogers asked 180K from Miss St.

1) nothing says Cam was involved
2) Auburn has absolutely NOTHING to do with this...so far
3) Right people are just assuming that since he went there he must have gotten another offer, coupled with the fact that his dad's church got renovated.

Is it fishy? yes. But don't jump making assumptions until they go through the full investigation.

The whole point is that is a privilege not something that is owed to them. They can get paid at the next level

my god......everybody is a victim these days.

god forbid people show up to watch LSU play....or any other university.....or highschool for that matter.

should the Thesbian Club divide up that $122.89 gate amongst the members?

Lets do away with sports in colleges and see how many of these players then go to college, like I did, and get a degree, like I did, and get a job, like I did, and have a family, like I did. I do not like Pro sports and will NEVER watch those spoiled money grabers.

if they can make it to the next level. The fact is they are making millions on them NOW. I and most others pay a ARM and LEG to go to some of these games. And that is OK? I thought it was just AMEATUR athletics? Bigger stadium expansions, and higher tickit prices to MAXIMIZE thier proffit. If everything you guys are preaching is true, tickets should be 10 bucks and no more. Can't have it both ways.

"on no! his church got renovated"! Sound like a good thing and a great way to spend his money. GOD BLESS HIM or i should say GOD BLESSED HIM. so if I go shake down a bunch of rich guys, but use the money to build a church, that's ok?

I agree that is a weak arse argument and actually would make the matter worse IMHO, Church folk should know better.

It's kinda like being the star employee for Microsoft, helping them make billions, and then getting paid 4,000 dollars a year. Yeah, I'm sure we are all lining up for that.

In the real world, these athletes see that people are willing to pay them for their services and they take the opportunity. If they know that one school won't pay and another will, that's where they will go. That's economics 101.

Again, anyone who thinks this isn't happening at LSU is fooling themselves.

The majority of atheletic departments dont break even. The money is not there. There may be boosters with money, but the schools cant afford to pay these kids. Also if you fail to see that a college degree from a respected university+room+meals isnt a good deal then Im wasting my time. These atheletes whether they know it or not are being set up for life more then they ever could be if they were pros out of high school. A good degree will put food on the table more than one pro contract out of high school and then blowing out a knee ever could have.

And to the OP about the money going to a church....I doubt that God would want his church paid through cheating lies and deceit...maybe its just me. I understand the position cams father must have been in where it looked like there was no way out, but as a pastor and he truly believes what hes teaching, he should have shown a little faith IF THIS IS TRUE that God would provide through legitimate means instead of taking the easy way out.

i would argue that an LSU fan isnt capable of feeling this way. Not saying one should take joy in this, because I dont, but feeling "sorry" for Auburn is too much.

maybe youre an Auburn fan?
