This is not created overnight. With Bama's coaching and philosophy a D with aTm's players may not be top notch but at least it would be more physical and better against the run.

Okay well let's take it a step further, your original point was that a team with an offense like A&M CANNOT have a good defense. Well, what if you put the two deep All-SEC defensive players in A&M uniforms with that offense. I bet they would be damn good.

A&M will have a very good defense very soon. Not this season. Way too young in the front 7, esp DL.

We heard about how great the defense recruits were for A&M all offseason yet their defense is still a disaster and ranked toward the bottom of FBS

TAM is still three recruiting classes away from matching Bama and LSU in depth of talent on defense.

There is no doubt the Aggies are bringing Texas High School Football to the SEC in a big way.

So, A&M will lose its offense about the time the defense gets respectable? That stinks. Does Johnny have a little bro?

It'll take a few years..but they'll have a defense like LSU and Alabama usually have.

Woh nelly; that's a fairly bold prediction.

Losing 4 Sr's, and 1 Jr (declared early) out of your front 7 without any experienced backups will do that to you.
EVERYONE with any sense knew the D would struggle this year, we've recruited really well, but they are still new. THe D will get better, historically A&M has always played good D.

dream on Big XII fan...Sumlin was telling peeps 11-12 years ago, that A&M was his dream job, he's NOT going anywhere for awhile. ALready tuned down NFL jobs and overtures from other College jobs.

Texas in 2005 had a good defense and didnt run a pro-style smash mouth offense. It wasn't up-tempo, but it definitely wasnt power I either.

Good yes, but they gave up 28 points or more 3 times. Bama and LSU in 2011 had no one reach that mark even once. No one scored 28 on Bama last year I think.

So yes good. elite no. Remember my original reply was refuting that A&M would be fielding D's of that caliber. Can they have decent units every now and then? Sure.

What makes you think our offense is going to be awful? Have plenty of talented players on offense as well. Obviously, the QB wont be as good as Manziel but, if the defense gets a lot better they wont have to be. Shouldn't have to score 40 points to win every game....

Their entire defense went to the NFL. 28 points, wonder why that arbitrary number was plucked out of thin air. How about 2013. Bama gives up 42 points to A&M.

ETA: A&M scored 29 on bama last year and UGA scored 28

Without Manziel what's your record this year? He's your entire offense right now.

How in the world can anyone answer that?
Manziel is a freak; but our entire unit is outstanding. Your comments are either misguided or completely disingenuous.
Why do people state things as fact in an attempt to make a moot point? It's silly.

Without Manziel, we are not a good football team THIS year. But we do have Manziel this year and we are a good football team because of it.

If we are projecting in the future, our better(I believe) and more complete roster will make us more than a one man show like we are now.

This is the internet.

He's your offense this and last year. Now, I'm not saying that with a run-of-the-mill QB you're not respectable, but I'm kinda saying you'd be middle of the pack. To not admit that is misguided and completely disingenuous.

I'm not saying every D A&M fields would be a dumpster fire; just not elite.

It is an attitude. Physicality is built in the trenches and in the huddle. The O says..."let's bullldoze these motherfrickers".... the D waits, they stare and salivate... tension builds and they go at each other with balls. It not about running many plays it is about imposing your will on the opponent.

The up tempo philosophy eliminates that.... it is more like "hurry up before they line up, let's catch 'em up of guard". There is nothing wrong with what A&M does is just not conducive to that type of defensive play.
