Coaching: Texas, by far

Ever hear of Joe Brady?

He’ s revamped our offense and has coached a little with the Saints and Penn State...he’s part of our 2 headed monster OC team with Ensminger...UT’s defense will be the test to see if it’s a pretender or a contender...

So you admit that Texas will have a home field advantage, a coaching advantage, an offensive advantage and a special teams advantage while LSU will enjoy a defensive advantage? Tell me how you can lose on 4 of the 5 most important aspects of a football game and still expect to win? Dominantly, no less.

Defense wins championships...I think I heard that somewhere before, maybe once or twice...

Yep, I've heard of Joe. If you're putting your eggs in the Brady/Ensminger basket while discounting Herman, Beck and the literal dozens of analysts on staff at Texas then you are in for a rude awakening.

That's absolutely true. Unfortunately, this is a regular season game and not a championship game. Trust me, I've seen Texas lose to teams with dynamite offenses and mediocre defenses while Texas had the better defense. If this thing becomes a shootout my money is on Texas since we're in our third year in the same system and LSU is in their first and will undoubtedly have growing pains and miscommunications.

Texas' offense was ranked 27th compared to the paltry 30th that LSU was ranked last year (again, using S&P+). We return 8 starters, you Lost 8. Not sure how that equates to a significant offensive advantage for Texas. But you haven't cared much for stats or logic so far, just that half of the recruiting rankings matter allot while the older half doesn't and how MSU is historically an SEC bottom dweller.

Burrow is on the record stating that he ran this exact offense for 4 years in high school...I saw him say that in an interview on LSU.net...

Take it FWIW...we are all going to find out...that’s for sure...

So you think that returning starters that were recruited for an entirely different offensive scheme and have only one game within the new scheme under their belt is an advantage over a team with a 3rd year starting quarterback with all three years in the same scheme and all of the new starters were recruited specifically for that scheme? Not to mention your new scheme is literally what we face week in and week out in the Big 12 against the best teams to ever run it?

Is that really your argument?

Texas is a top 10 team. LSU playing at their house and that is an advantage for Texas. I expect Texas and fans to be jacked and it should be a good game. But LSU looked awesome albeit a weak opponent. Still as a longtime LSU fan I’m extremely optimistic with what they did in first game. Im predicting LSU to take Texas to the woodshed. But still game has to be played. . Geaux Tigers

Burrow may have ran it but the rest of the team was built around an antiquated style of offense and it takes 11 players to run any offense effectively last time I checked.

Best point you’ve made so far...I’d like to predict a dominating win by LSU, but with the comment above, it’s probably going to be a tough game & dog fight and may come down to who has the ball last in the 4th...

Haha oh man do you not know LSU football. Les Miles had been recruiting 4 and 5 star athletes that would excel in spread and RPO systems for a decade but never ran it. That's a huge part of our fans frustration with him. Do you know how much more effective Brandon Harris, Jordon Jefferson or Jarrett Lee would have been in this new offense? Or Odell Beckham, Jarvis Landry, John Diarse, Trey Quinn, Darius Guice, Russell Sheppard, Terrace Marshall or Brandon Lafell?

The players have had no problem with the new offense. It's better, period. And last year's offense was only 3 spots worse than texas'offense. And based on returning production (or lack there of) Texas' offense will take a step back early in the year. Whether it's better by the end of the year remains to be seen, but I would be extremely shocked if your offense is better now than it was last year, and deep in the logical part of you, you know it too. Ehlinger is not accurate enough to overcome all the newcomer's mistakes.

They all ran a watered down version. It's high school, everyone runs a spread attack. Whether it's run first (Briles or Chip Kelly style) or Air Raid or somewhere in between. The other 10 players will pick up (and clearly have picked up) the new offense just as easily as Burrow.

I don't expect LSU to beat Texas easily. I expect LSU to win by one score and for unbiased fans to walk away being pretty sure, but not positive that LSU was the better team. Herman is possibly the best big game coach in the sport right now. I know they held back almost everything in week 1 and were super vanilla. But I know LSU is more talented and much more experienced and I think one or two costly mistakes is what decides this game. I'm betting that Texas makes one more than LSU because of their inexperience.

Hope so.

I just saw the highlights, but weren’t all of your scores on passing plays?

Dude...ur team just got dick-slapped in the face by Mack Brown... Mack Brown. Let that sink in and go back to the kiddy table and let the grown ups handle the discussion on the rant.
