Please, please let's not show our ignorance.

Geographically, Oklahoma's in the SOUTH-Central region of the U.S.

Culturally, it's a mix of Southern & Midwest.

They say, "y'all!", but don't necessarily have that rich, Southern accent except in the eastern part of the state where it's more pronounced.

They eat Southern food, have Southern manners, and are largely Southern Baptist.

They fought on the side of the Confederacy in the Civil War, even though it was Indian Territory because many of the Indian Tribes fought on the side of the South.

Texas is even more Southern in every way except for West Texas. It's more Southwestern.

Well the SEC hasn't because Columbia, Missouri is not the south, not even close.

NC and possibly Virginia could be worth it, and southern. Nearly every other school being mentioned would cost all existing schools revenue and move us farther from being a cohesive conference.

Considering that Alabama has an overall series losing record against both OU and Texas, I'm not sure you can say that.

OU is definitely more southern than Georgia. Any “southern” state that elected Biden should have their southern status revoked.

I wish some of you would go back to that map of Missouri and read the names of the County Seats.

Rhett Butler and Scarlett O’Hara’s state is far more southern than Billy Bob’s Indian territory.

Let’s compare Savannah to Tulsa, Atlanta to OKC, Athens to Norman, etc.

Please…

We’re magnolias and mint juleps. You’re ranches and cattle.

I hope this is the last time we add teams.

These two teams will add interesting games but I don’t see any other teams that would garner much interest.

Why water down the conference.

JetDawg nailed it. Texas is slowly turning in its Southern membership. In days gone by East Texas ruled the state and they were all deep South by tradition. Today with the influx of Californians, Hispanics and yankees the place is nowhere near what it was in the 1950's.

matter fact places like cape girardeau jonesboro and dyersburg tn are mostly south but could be considered the midwest too... heck you hit tulsa louisville nashville etc. There is SLIGHT mid west influence in those cities... they dont have the deep south accents

Any place you can order sweet tea in a restaurant is the South.

I expect the SEC will grab two more teams, one from North Carolina and one from Virginia eventually.

If you ain’t got a lot of black folks in your state you’re not that southern.
