What did they do to deserve this crap that has been the last 9 years? It's not uncommon at all for blue chip programs to be down for a few years, but it's almost unhurd of for almost ten years of BS.
Bigvoldaddy, probably my favorite sec figurehead on youtube, nails it when he says there has never been more roadblocks and downturns hoisted on a sports program on any level than the last 9 years of Tennessee.

Spurrier's first "big win" at South Carolina was Tennessee as well. With big Phil on the sideline.

As previously noted, UT's reputation as a "blue chip program" is based on success back in the 1920s to 1950s. That isn't to say they haven't been a good SEC program at times, but since 1970 they rank as the 5th best team in the SEC in winning pct, and 6th best in number of titles. I use 1970 because that is a clear line of demarcation, being as that is about when all SEC teams integrated.

Damn, you're right. I had completely forgotten about that.

They'll be fine. As long as Muschamp doesn't coach in the SEC for much longer.

Gotta really question the program's future in the modern era at this point.
But the Vols will hire a great coach someday.

Not for a second do I feel sorry for them...its karma and they brought it on themselves with the chest pounding for the past few years in the summer. They fell for sales pitch of Butchy ...the brick salesman. UT will be in constant turmoil the next 50 years with a heavy cross to bear. Vandy will overtake them and be one of their daddies.

Not sure if intentional, but if so, nice subtle troll there.
