Situation:

Starting linebacker pulls up to a convenience grocery store in downtown Tuscaloosa, no spaces in front of store. Starting linebacker double parks, puts on flashers, runs inside for one minute, runs back out.

Cop is standing there waiting on the driver to issue a citation.

Now choose the most likely scenario in Tuscaloosa:

Scenario A:

Cop asks for license. Starting linebacker gives him license. Cop says do you have weed in your car? I think I see sprinkles. Maybe I smell some weed too. "No sir" says the starting linebacker. "Can you get out of the car please, and put your hands behind your back". Starting linebacker complies, and is handcuffed. "Now" the cop says, "Just tell me where the weed is at, and everything will be ok". The linebacker says "In the console". An hour later the linebacker is booked in the county jail with $1000 bond.

Scenario B:

Cops asks for license. Starting linebacker gives him license. Tuscaloosa cop issues a warning for illegal parking. Starting linebacker and cop part ways and go about their business.

Choose which is closer to reality.

I know not a cop, but it's worthy to note that the Tuscaloosa County DA is an Auburn grad and fan.

Don't know about Tuscaloosa specifically, but it's been my experience that local cops in college towns, be it Athens, Tuscaloosa, or Baton Rouge, can be oddly hostile to the university's athletes. They probably hate the influence of the athletic department in the area.

Scenario C:

Cops asks for license. Starting linebacker gives him license. Tuscaloosa cop asks for autograph for his son and takes selfie with starting linebacker. Cop wishes starting linebacker well and immediately gets on the radio to brag to other cops who he just met and let go.

Only at UGA does a parking ticket turn into an arrest of a football player.

Literally nobody else does this.

It's not like he was stumbling, or belligerent, or uncooperative, it wasn't late at night, there were literally no other escalating conditions or circumstances.

Parking ticket turns into weed bust.

I'm so sick of this shite.

I guess you're glazing over the part where starting LB's wallet was in his car. When he opened the door, the cop saw weed in plain sight and smelled it.

In summation, starting LB is a moron for parking illegally in front of a store and having weed sprinkled on his car seat. I have no problem with people smoking weed, but I do have a problem with stupidity. Lesson learned IMO. Honestly, he should prob start vaping. All the cool kids are doing it now, and there's nothing for the cops to smell and no weed sprinkles for the cops to see.

No, report says cop saw what he suspected to be sprinkles, which basically looks like dirt. The bag of weed was not in plain sight.

Quit whining.
Or how about :
D. You are on a possible historic run and could compete for a NC. Don’t be out breaking the law and don’t be smoking weed to put you and your team in jeopardy.

We're talking about Alabama here, so you forgot option C:

Cop asks for license. Starting linebacker gives him license. Cop goes back to run tags and license. Cop learns that car isn't his and license is suspended. Cop orders starting linebacker to get out of the car and place hands on the hood. Starting linebacker jumps in car and speeds off, leading in high speed chase. Cops force car off road, drag starting linebacker out of the vehicle, and forcibly arrest him. Al Sharpton promises a protest march the next weekend. Nick Saban makes starting linebacker run a little bit extra at next practice as punishment.

I know what weed shake looks like and it looks like weed. Maybe players shouldn't be rolling blunts in their car, just a thought. Again, player was a moron
quote:

Patrick told the officer his wallet was in the car, and when he “opened and then closed his door quickly” the officer reported he smelled the odor of marijuana. Patrick answered no when asked if there was any marijuana in the car or anyone had recently had marijuana in the car, per the report.

“I then looked closer through the front window of the vehicle and saw numerous small pieces of marijuana,” the officer stated in his report.

At that point Patrick was placed in handcuffs, and when the officer again asked Patrick where the marijuana was, Patrick told him it was in the center console, according to the report. The officer then retrieved a small bag containing “a green leafy substance.”

ETA: btw, I love when someone breaks the law and then people get mad at the police for enforcing it

It could. Cops know exactly who handles these things once they're kicked up the line.
