This is assuming that there is a second wave of COVID or that it gets worse somehow. Would the polls decide the national champ one last time? Would there be enough of a sample size to garner a solid claim?

Even if the season got to week 9 or 10? I imagine if there was a dark hourse candidate with a signature win or two in the top 4 they would at least unofficially claim it. Kinda like 2017 UCF.

Well, since OU can’t seem to beat an SEC team en route to one, I’ll just claim it.

The #1 in the AP Poll would have a legitimate historical claim to it.

One could be claimed, but given there still may be multiple undefeated teams near the end of the regular season, that would be a crapshow

claiming championships is synonymous with only one university. The rest have the decency to earn them.

Every undefeated team would claim it, no one would be acknowledged.
