I don't care to think about Cam's smiley arse anymore.

Glad to see him gone.

Last year LSU played Auburn to the last 2:00 minutes on their home field.

On the flip side, it was "only" a 7 point game because AU took a knee on the last play at the goalline and LSU's punter had the greatest day in the history of punting. Otherwise, AU may have won by 20. AU was more dominant than the score indicated that day.

Alabama's block field goal from inside the 10 yard line would have put Bama up 27-0 and would have been the dagger in the heart.
LSU's offense is leaps and bounds better than last year

And at the same time, an aweful PI call and the worst PF penalty ever gave bama 14 early points. Both of those penalties were on 3rd down and both very bad calls. And still AU came back and took the lead with a full quarter to go. Maybe AU wins by 20 if not for those bad calls. And considering how easy and quickly AU came back (erasing all of a 24 point lead in two quarters with no problem), maybe bama was lucky to even be in the game.

Lot of different directions to take these hypotheticals.

Definitely. With just Cam back, I doubt AU beats either. Cam and the Oline back along with Bynes and Fairley and it is anyone's guess.

I thought this hypothetical was considering if Auburn's ENTIRE TEAM from 2010 faced off with LSU/ALA 2011?

You guys seem to be picking and choosing Auburn pieces and then throwing them up against the 2011 LSU/ALA *teams*.

Right, lots of different directions to take these hypothetical.

The fact LSU has a capable offense this year that would have been able to convert all of the 3rd down chances they missed in Jordan Hare last year.

With Mathieu, LSU beats last year's AU team by double digits at home.

Both games could have gone either way last year, even with Cam playing lights out. Both teams are much improved over last year, particularly on both lines. They'd be a bit more successful at slowing Cam down and far more successful offensively than a year ago. The games could still go either way due to Cam but I think it more likely both 'Bama and LSU would put the Plainsmen away.

Honey smoker > PP7?

Hands Down.

Was likely on pace for at least a Heisman invite.

Cam would be giving birth to Honey Badger, Jr. in 9 months.

But AU 2010 wouldve raped LSU 07 & bama 09 at the same time on their home fields.

Stupid isn't it.

the LSU vs AU game last year wasn't nearly as close as y'all are making it out to be. I watched it again the othernight just to make myself go to a happy place after the raping we got this year.

2010 AU just wasn't going to be denied, the planets aligned and it was written in the stars.

For 2010, I think Auburn wins more than loses in however many tries. For 2011 + Cam, other way around.

TM played the majority of that game a year ago. It was one of the few that he was negated.
PP7 > TM7 as a cover corner and a return spec. Hands down. TM7 is still young and could get there in a year or two. TM7 is on a level all alone as a disruptor and yes he may have wound up with a trip to NYC if he hadn't screwed up.

Auburn wins them at home, but probably wouldnt be able to go into Death Valley and beat LSU. I'd probably pick them over Bama either way.

My, that's quite a pant-load there Peggy. Most people won't agree BTW. CAM is a great player who elevated his whole team to defeat those two squads by one score each. '07 LSU or '09 'Bama would have given Cam fits. Nice try.

The game was tied at 17 until about 5 minutes were left in the game. By that time Auburn had worn out the LSU defense. Despite that Auburn was only in scoring position again at the very end of the game. Yes, they could have tacked on style points atthe end, but they were one big play from being in a tie game until that final possession.

Cam Newton was phenomenal in that game. It was possibly the best game he played all season. What makes you think he would duplicate that effort against 2011 LSU if he couldn't duplicate it against any other 2010 opponents? Jordan Jefferson was horrible against Auburn in 2010, and Jarret Lee was not getting the same number of reps in practice. What makes you think they wouldn't improve their horrendous performance? That's the problem with threads like this. Any assumption of future performance based on past performance ignores the unique circumstances that were instrumental in shaping that past performance. Wouldn't both coaching staffs devise different game plans knowing who they have and who the opponent has? The players to plan for and against would be different so isn't it probable that the plans and in game adjustments would be different?

That being said it is possible for any fan to come up with reasonable basis for claiming his favorite team would win any hypothetical game. Even outcomes that would be upsets of epic proportions.

There is no flip side. Only the final score. IF "Flip side" is relevant then it is no more so than your last two words; "that day". LSU played woefully that day on both sides of the ball, compared to their execution in most other games, and still could have won the game with any breaks at all. Fairley's body-slam of Jefferson was also one of the worst no-calls of the season, in which there were quite a few in Auburn's favor.
