Three of Clemson's four losses last year were to SEC teams. This year, once again, they open up with an SEC foe, LSU on August 30th.

Historically, here's how Clemson has fared against SEC teams:

Give them credit for putting SEC teams on their schedule when they don't have to.

TBF they kind of have to, the B1G and Big 12 both play 9 conference games, the ACC and SEC both play 8, so its unlikely they have a lot of options for scheduling a 9th P4 game unless its an SEC team

I think Clemson would be a 6-10 win program any given year in the SEC, with the current stage of the program, probably closer to ~7-8 wins a year

They would have 0 NCs. Part of the reason why the playoff was such a dumb idea with the disparity in schedules.

Depends. If they got a UT schedule (Texas or Vols) I could see them winning one. If they got Florida or OU's schedule, they would be fricked.

I think the internal scheduling disparity is a bigger issue than the lopsided conference strength issue. At least everyone knows the conferences are not equal

They'd have a decent shot still winning a natty with Watson/Lawrence.

20 years ago they'd probably fare marginally better than Auburn due to Clemson having a rare in-state advantage among land grants. Now, Clemson has built a great national reputation. I see no reason why they'd struggle in the SEC long term so long as they're committed to winning

I mean Texas won 11 or 12 games in year one. A&M won 10 or 11 their first year.

Arkansas was the first team not named Alabama or Florida to make the SEC Championship game in football.

The conference is far and away the best, but there are plenty of schools across the country that could "compete".

They would need a new coach and a strong commitment to NIL to make it in the SEC.

I don't care for the Tigers but they'd do fine. If they managed to win multiple NC's over the Goober's time they'd find a way to compete in the SEC.

Still don't want'em, though.
