Wrong.

Arkansas has a collective that was reported back in December to be $11.5 million.

That puts them at tenth place in the SEC.

The majority of that money will go into basketball.

Now if you take the money out intended for basketball then the collective for football by itself is almost dead last in the SEC.

I guess they don't teach math in Arkansas.

Bad-mouthing other states is so lame. Every single state has its "third world" areas. And many small towns are dying. The small-town kids who go away to college seldom come back because there's no money, no culture and no thrills there.

Missouri brings in a tv market that the SEC office wants to have.

Yeah, I live here in the se Arkansas delta and my son told me early on that when he graduated and got through with school that he wasn’t coming back to live. He didn’t and is living a great life. These areas are dying on the vine.

Georgias one baseball natty is one more than a lot of schools have. FYI Georgia has decided to get serious about basketball and baseball. Millions are being invested in upgraded facilities and recruiting is getting a lot of attention. The results are already showing. Both sports have dramatically improved and will continue to do so.
Football is king at UGA. But there isn’t any reason that the other sports can’t be successful at a school with the resources Georgia has. Georgia equestrian and women’s tennis both won natties this past season. New facilities are currently being built for.soccer and for track and field too.

They went back… DMAC and the boys would’ve beat eventual national champion Florida in Atlanta if it wasn’t for a fumbled punt in the end zone. This thread is dumb, Arkansas has one of the best basketball and baseball programs in the conference. Who gives a shite about the SEC anyway though?

I thought there was something odd about Texas missing, but then I noticed the year. OU, Texas and Vanderbilt are left off. OU/Texas because they weren't in the conference, and Vanderbilt because they're a private school not subject to FOIA laws.

The Texas number surprised me for the 2024 season. I thought it would be a lot higher.

FSU spent over $61 million to go 2-10.

Still not as high as I'd expect for both OU and Texas.

Suppose Bobby Petrino could just ride a Harley? Imagine the Razorbacks being betrayed by another Hog. Isn't it ironic?

Yeah, but one of the things that chart illustrates is how vital it was for Texas and OU to get out of the Big 12. The whole dynamic of the conference was schizophrenic. The commissioner's office was constantly trying to cater to Texas and OU as big budget athletic programs while also mollifying the rest of the league, and no one was happy.

I know people like to say Texas went to the SEC for the money. I'm not saying that wasn't a factor. Of course it was a factor. But it wasn't the boon for Texas changing conferences has been for other programs, mostly because of the guaranteed payout from ESPN for the Longhorn Network, which Texas had to give up. Also, Texas makes so much more revenue per football game than most schools, simply because of all the additional luxury seating - suites and premium club seats - and the fact Austin is the largest city in the country with no major professional sports teams, so the games are treated as a venue to entertain clients and employees in the same way professional teams do.

Also, Sarkisian went from $6 million prior to winning the Big 12 and reaching the semifinals before losing to Washington, to $10m annual salary, and then that was raised after the first year in the SEC. The rest of the staff is paid a lot more, too, which is partly how they've been able to keep all of their coordinators and their strength and conditioning coach. I'm sure that number is much larger currently.

Kirby Smart is at 13 million, Coach DeBoer and Sarkisian are at 10 million. Kiffin, Kelly, Drink, Stoops, and Heupel right behind at 9 million. A ton more at 8 and 7 million.

Money ain't separating anyone in the SEC. Job opportunities will. Sark is his own OC, so who's coming after him?

If the SEC lost Arkansas, the conference wouldn’t miss a beat. If the SEC lost UGA, Florida, Bama, or LSU it would be a devastating loss.
