He may very well be a great QB at LSU, but there's certainly nothing to suggest he's better than A.J. MaCarron right now. And there's nothing to suggest he'll make the LSU offense better in 2012.

Yes, and how many years did MaCarron have in the system before being handed the reigns?

Mett?

Wilson had 3 years, this is why we were not surprised to see him do as well as he did this year.

Of course neither of those factors are going to stop LSU from competing for a national title in 2012.

This is a different point.

Instead of concentrating on what we lose, let's look at what Bama returns:

At the 2 most important positions/groups on offense, QB & OL; Bama returns a solid starter and 4/5 starters. Add 5* prospect C. Kouandjio at LT, and you have the best OL in the conference. While the RB group won't be legendary with the loss of TR, it will still be a top 3 group in the SEC. The WR position won't be world-beaters, but has the potential to be better. Certainly has the potential to have more vertical speed than this years group.

On defense, the Tide may have some drop off from this year, but will still be a top 10 group nationally.

The front 7 will still be elite. The ILBs CJ Mosley & Nico will still be the best in the conference. DePriest & Hubbard chalked a good bit of PT this year.

The secondary could be dicey. But if Lester returns, that would make 2/4 (along with Milliner)of the backfield coming back. If one of the 2 JUCO CBs (Dixon or Belue) pan out, or Fulton steps up this group could be stronger than the '10 secondary.

It's been two years. Time to let it go.

people really need to stop acting like AJ is a good QB or something.

really, the guy stands there and hands off to RBs that average 8 yards a touch, completes screens and dumpoffs, and is good for 2 passes of 10 yards or more a game, one of which will likely be a flea flicker, fake punt, or to a wide open TE.

He is the defenition of mediocrity.

Lee and Jefferson could both easily match what he does in Bama's offense.

Mett, on the other hand, is gonna be a baller.

You are half correct, we have beaten you 2 in a row now.

We're upgrading from "F" graded QBs to probably a "B". That's going to be nice for LSU and it sucks for the rest of the country.

I agree on the "F" part. I would critique Mett but he has to be better. Mett is the nephew of a close friend so I will pull for him every game but Bama of course.

And yet we both have the same chance for the championship. A whole lot of good it did you.

I have an eye for talent.

If you dont think Mett can match AJs ability to complete screens and dumpoffs, that's up to you.

You can say whatever you want about Mett and his lack of playing time so far, but it's only a matter of time until he proves he is a big time QB at LSU. It's inevitable.

According to the LSU experts, Alabama wouldn't compete in 2011 because of the loss of four 1st round draft picks.

Those same experts that flooded this board with 'well thought out' crap and flames?

I remember hearing this about a current QB who is now being graded as a "F"....

He could be worse than JJ and still beat Ark by 3 TDs next year.

Stampley alternates with Copeland now
Metenberger will be better at QB
Peterson is a loss but he should have been a bigger loss.
Hebert (no loss)
Blackwell (really good OL)
Shaw (not a starter)

Adams (really good player but he rotates in with other DL)
LB's Actually think we will be better there next year and with the easier out of conference schedule they will have time to develop.
Brooks & Taylor are losses as well as Claiborne but Chevis/Miles/Wilson/Cooper have done a great job building dept at DB
Montgomery and Brockers are studs, hope they stay one more year.

Off topic, but I recently found an argument between you and TTsTowel from the preseason that included something along the lines of "Bama won't make the National Title and most of the SECr would agree".

Just thought I'd let you have that free piece of ammo if you ever need it

Not really. We'd care more if Auburn beat us.

What a clever retort. I don't know how I'll ever get over Bama losing that game. Maybe a trip to the BCSNCG will help ease my intense pain.
