Chavis smells like doo doo at Texas A&M U but lean a little closer and find out the way LSU played against Bama smells poo poo too. I contend the spread is dick cancer for defense. Chavis gets a pass. LSU is better off with him. They could have won if he hadn't left.

Wouldn't have changed anything. Bama is the better team.

Have you noticed the lack of depth LSU has in the front 7? That's on Chavis and Brick and them leaving was the only way it was getting fixed.

What LSU lost in scheme and adjustments they gained in recruiting.

Chavis has absolute DICK for linebackers at A&M. His best two are out for the season and his 3rd best is a 215 lb true freshman.

Chief was a good coach but a lazy recruiter. He's why we are thin on d in the first place.

The ol for Lsu lost that game.

Chavis wouldn't have helped block for LF last night.

hasn't hurt LSU. and aTm ain't got the players LSU had/has. this Myles Garrett guy is a pass rush specialist, period. every team they play makes a killin' running to his side.

He never recruited DICK for LB at LSU either. Hence us having to heavily recruit LB this year because we're screwed after Beckwith leaves. No depth.

I'd rather have great coaches and average recruiters.

Sumlin's assistants (sans Chavis, Banks, and Joseph) seem to have mastered the unique art of "coaching down" their players.

Our defense is in the situation it's in in because of Chavis and Brick Haley.

They did jack shite recruiting the last few years and we have no LB or DL depth. The talent on this defense just wasnt what it was some years back.

Chavis is a part of our problem if anything. The game would have been exactly the same. Belichick wouldn't have changed this outcome if he were dc. Offense was the problem.

Let's compare the 2012-2015 Linebacker classes pulled in by each school:

2012

LSU - Kwon Alexander (4-star), Lorenzo Phillips (4-star, left team), Ronnie Feist (4-star), Lamar Louis (4-star), Deion Jones (4-star), They Granier (3-star),

Texas A&M - Jordan Richmond (4-star: Arrested), Michael Richardson (4-star DE: played 1 season due to injury)

2013

LSU - Kendell Beckwith (4-star), Melvin Jones (4-star), Duke Riley (3-star),

Texas A&M - Darian Claiborne (3-star: Arrested), Tommy Sanders (3-star JUCO, career backup), Brett Wade (3-star, played 1 season due to injury), Jordan Mastrogiovanni (3-star, played 2 seasons due to injury), Reggie Chevis (3-star, now a bit player at DT), Shaan Washington (3-star ATH: Starter)

2014

LSU - Cilfton Garrett (5-star, left team), Sione Teuhema (3-star contributor), Donnie Alexander (3-star),

Texas A&M - Otaro Alaka (4-star starter, out for season), Josh Walker (4-star starter, out for season)

2015

LSU - None

Texas A&M - Richard Moore (3-star starter), Landis Durham (3-star), Claude George (3-star JUCO), Riley Garner (3-star), Dwayne Thomas (3-star): NO REDSHIRTS

Not only has LSU recruited and developed 10 linebackers to our 8, but they have far more upperclass talent.

Teuhema is a DE
Melvin Jones was a FB

Chief's recruiting recently has been ridiculously bad, you guys are already seeing it at A&M too. Remember reading that thread on texags earlier this week worried about what you're going to do at LB. It's the same story, Chavis doesnt know what to do recruiting wise. Unless you have someone to bring talent in for him you're going to be stuck with mediocre LBs soon enough and/or no depth.

How does A&M's talent situation change the fact that Chavis and Brick fricked up so hard?

And here you hit the nail on the head.

Seriously?

7 LBs in 3 years. So, you're not even close to right.

You mean the one lamenting the fact that Otaro Alaka and Josh Walker (our two best linebackers) are out for the season, A.J. Hilliard is completely fricking lost at MLB, Shaan Washington is underperforming, and we couldn't redshirt a single one of our freshman linebackers, even the one who is recovering from a spinal injury (Riley Garner) because we have absolutely ZERO depth at linebacker?

Not only that, but we retained a shitty position coach (Mark Hagan), moving him from linebacker coach to defensive tackles coach (seriously, who the frick has a DE and a DT coach?) because he was Malik Jefferson's primary recruiter.

Of all those LBs you mentioned for LSU I count SIX that have seen the field as LBs for the tigers.

K Alexander, Louis, D Jones, Beckwith, Riley and D Alexander.

The other six have either changed positions of left the team.

LSU might only have two returning LBs for '16.
