The portal kang should have LSU in the playoffs Year 1.

If BK can take an LSU team that only had 12 scholarship players and the Panhellenic flag football runner ups to the SECCG in Year 1, then Lane should have LSU in Atlanta and hosting a CFP game next year.

I think any coach should get 3-4 years, unless it's an utter disaster.

With the portal, any coaching change becomes a rebuild situation.

I expect LSU to go 7-5 or 8-4 next year, this board will freak out like it does, and then we'll see going forward.

They used it for four years with Kelly.

I'm sure Lane will turn things around in year 1.

No doubt

When and if they go 8-4 again or 7-5 again next season, LSU fans will quickly go into "Rome wasn't built in a day and Kiffin just needs more time to get his player in the system" mode, and the convenient narrative shift will be hilarious.

I expect them to go 7-5 or 8-4.

It's mostly other fanbases that seem to think they should make the playoff in year 1.

Why are you worrying about a team you're not a fan of? I'd be concerned with my own team if it were me.

I mean i think you answered your own question but if he isn’t being a douche bag and is actually trying to make the team better I bet he gets more

everything that came out with Kelly it seems like he was not just coasting and not putting in any effort and the only thing keeping him around was the guy out and the record still being acceptable if not what we wanted

Anything less than a national semi inside of 5 years would be considered a lateral move. If it takes more than 6, it would have to be seen as an abject failure.

How does next year's schedule look? Are the bigger games at home or away?

I think next year is an automatic pass, but it would not shock me at all to see LSU in the playoff conversation in late November.
