If Lagaway stays healthy Florida is gonna be in the NC hunt. They have all the right skill players.

I think if Lagway is healthy, and the defense continues to improve or maintains the level they've been at the past 4 games, they could possibly make a playoff appearance but Napier's game day management and play calling will give them a second round knockout at best.

Well you know mizzou... your team is 0-1 vs CBK at LSU.

The start of the season will be very important, needs to beat Miami and or LSU both on the road and not trip up on the OOC teams. (4-0 or 3-1) Then beat either or both Texas and TA&M, (6-0 or 5-1 or 4-2) Then win at least 4 of the last 6 games. FSU is a must win. (8-4) minimum. That would save his job. If the Gators get off to a bad start, it's gonna get ugly. Especially if they lose to the scUM or USF and to both UT and TAM.
How they lose is also a factor, if they play well, look good and lose, that's one thing. If they stink up the Swamp that's another. Patience is thin with Gator fans.

Barring a collapse and Lagway leaving, he'll get 2026. Sad truth.

I just don't know how that helps in the long term once Lagway is gone. Are you guys in a good spot in a replacement for Lagway with a 2026 top QB rec
Unless he transfers Lagway is here until 2027.

I like the qbs we have in the pipeline but I don't think any of them will make up for the offensive shortcomings like Lagway does. Post lagway is another wrench in the long-term of our program

Florida should be a program that should be competing for the playoffs year in and year out
This is the issue with the SEC and the current format, We have 6-10 teams that have the resources and "should" compete for the playoffs year in and year out but we all have to play each other and our league canabalizes itself.
The Big10 has 3-4 teams that should compete and with those numbers, the top teams can finish near the top every year. The ACC has 3 teams and the Big12 pretty much has zero teams that "should" get in.
IDK what the solution is but the depth of our league keeps very good teams out of the playoffs.

A 7-5 regular season keeps him safe.

Really wish we got Lagway in Austin mast year and pumped to play them in Gainsville

I think this is really the answer.
The truth of the matter is if Sasse didn't resign, both Stricklin and Napier were probably going to be fired after the A&M game last year. Money was raised for a buyout. High level boosters thought it was a done deal. But interim president Fuch didn't want to deal with it, so it got pushed until later.
Ono definitely seems very involved in sports, which should be a good thing for Gator fans. I agree barring something like 6-6 or worse, Napier is probably safe until 2026. We have something like 10 deans that need to get replaced, and that will be Ono's biggest priority. If we start 2-4 or 3-6, which is very possible with our schedule, Ono might pull the plug quicker.

He gone. As soon as this team crashes and burns it'll be over for him.

It most assuredly does not, and it almost doesn't matter who the seven wins are.

Agreed barring anything crazy early in the season he should be safe. Im glad you highlighted Kent Fuchs and his complete nonchalance dealing with athletics. People loved him because he was quirky and catered to the students, but behind closed doors he only cared about getting the ridiculous top 5 public university title. Crucial part of that was not letting in legacies, alienating boosters, and letting the UAA boys club run athletics into the ground.

Are talking about BK and not Napier?

This team will be our most balanced one since the Tebow years, we should be solid on both sides of the ball but who really knows. I think 8 total wins including a bowl saves his job anything less he’s gone, but in year 4 he should be winning 9-10 at a place like UF with a star QB.
