I say the reason for parity in college baseball is the fact that LSU had a dynasty. They were successful on the field and at the gate. It showed the rest of the NCAA that baseball could be a moneymaker. The change to small ball isn't why others have caught LSU, it's greed and the need to fund Title IX.

I honestly didn't know UK had that streak in the 50's. I'll grant that as a dynasty. Although Rupp was probably lynching brothers on his off days.
You're so fricking far off it makes you look stupid to UK fans. In his time off, Coach was promoting better housing for poor inner city families - Wayyyy before it was the cool thing for prominent people to do.
Quit trying to impress everybody with your ability to parrot shite you hear from UK haters.

On a side note. Kentucky has also won I think 19 Cheer-leading National Championships since 1985. They have a record 8 in a row. When they don't win they have often received runner up.
All that being said.... no one cares and cheer leading isn't a sport.

A little homerism:
No Lsu Baseball in the 90s? Seriously?
And LSU track and field was on a tear before they lost Coach Henry

Not necessarily a dynasty...but,
UT football:
1927-1932 (53-1-5)
1938-1940 (31-2-0)

Another reason against LSU track being a dynasty, never won a triple crown, and coaches of Dynasties don't leave to go to lesser schools, they retire as legends.

What is the criteria here?
Alabama football from 1958-1982. 13 SEC titles, 6 national titles (3 consensus), and a record of 232-46-9.

So basically I want to see a period of utter dominance for at least 10 years, a coach at the pinnacle of the profession, adaptability to the competitive landscape and to keep winning, and basically be the benchmark that other programs strive to be.
I can't award Saban dynasty status but he's certainly on the right path. I'm going to need one of you Bama guys to give the actual stats for Bryant's teams. Football is subjective as frick with there being no clear cut champion but that's one of the things I love about it, it keeps the convo's heated and ongoing for decades.

"Alabama gymnastics
Nope"
While Georgia is the top program over the past 20 or so years, you can certainly make a case for Alabama gymnastics being considered a dynasty as well. Alabama has won 6 national titles over the last 25 years and has only finished outside the top 6 (Super 6) a total of 3 times since 1983 which is a ridiculously impressive run of consistent success. There are SEC programs that have never finished in the top 6 once much less 28 times in the last 31 seasons.
Auburn men's and women's swimming and diving
Arkansas track and field
LSU baseball during the 90s
Tennessee women's basketball
Georgia men's tennis
Alabama football early to mid 60s
Alabama football during the 70s
Kentucky basketball during the 50s
...have also all had dynasties in their respective sports

If you can't award a dynasty status to Bryant's era at Alabama from '58-'82, then it doesn't exist in college football.

bats were tinkered with after 98 and lsu won in 2000. bats were tinkered with after 2000 and LSU won in 2009. bats were tinkered with after 2009 and if LSU wins this year I will proclaim this the greatest dynasty ever. What dynasty has ever had to put up with more tinkering in the history of the World than LSU's dynasty.

well no one has posted Bryant's info yet and you're going to have to acquiesce on all of the claimed titles and pare it down to an actual amount that are overwhelmingly obvious that Bama was the champion.
No one from Bama has argued for their inclusion yet.

I just gave you the number of SEC titles, national title (along with those that were consensus), as well as a W/L record for the time period.
1958-1982
13 SEC titles
6 national titles (4 consensus)
232-46-9 record

which years were the consensus titles?

In 1961, 1964, 1965, and 1979 Alabama carried both major polls. :nb41964FWAAtitle:

Tommy lee jones says real recognize real... I'm not a Cheerleading fan by any means but you can't hate their hustle... They've won everything, more often than they've not since half this board was born...
