Thanks.

Ought to be an SEC requirement. Holds true for UTx and OU.

When did Tennessee get rid of their turf?

Nvm.

1993. Seems like it was sooner, but I guess not.

Any SEC team using artificial turf just seems wrong. But for Kentucky to do it is just an abomination.

I think this is correct. Though I’m trying to remember either Tennessee or Florida having a turf deal and I can’t remember them ever having it. Seems like Bama had it back in the 80s & 90s. Not sure about Arky & South Carolina.

UF had the artificial stuff until Spurrier ('90) I think.

The only positive thing Chad Morris did while he was here was get the field at Razorback stadium changed to grass

Tennessee was the SEC's first team to do so in 1968. It was Tartan Turf made by 3m that would actually fade late in the year. Florida had theirs installed AFTER the 1971 season started. Alabama got artificial turf in 1969.

It's been a minute since we had field turf. Natural grass now.

By the end of the season, the field at commonwealth was always brown and patchy...it just gets too cold in November in Lexington for solid grass growth.
