Ole Miss is definitely tops in MS in almost every category. Miss St. has one of the top veterinary schools, though, I know that. MSU and AU are neck in neck in veterinary science.
Only thing I can think of is engineering. Miss St has some decent engineering programs, not heard much on engineering at Ole Miss so unsure on how good their programs are.

I know little about the state of SC, so I assume it depends on the program you want. I know USCe has a medical school because my doctor is a USCe graduate. I am sure Clemson is tops in certain fields. This is similar to how it is in AL.
South Carolina is a safety school. The medical school in Columbia was founded recently and is a fall back for students who can't get into MUSC, in Charleston, which has been around forever. Your doctor won't tell you that, but it's true.

If Vandy has a challenger in Tennessee it would be Rhodes University.

Centre College is well known for their education. Used to rank often in the Forbes list of best colleges and has produced many who went on to work in the US diplomatic corps. It is the reason they do the vice presidential debate in Danville.
Honorable mention to Berea College as it was the first school in the state with a billion dollar endowment. School is free if you get in but kids must work on campus 10 - 20 hours a week. In an era of escalating cost of higher education they are the model of how to make said education for free.
State schools in KY seem to spend their budgets on buildings and less on faculty, staff, and students (which usually make for better academics).

MSU engineering is far ahead of Ole Miss in research money spent, so you can draw your conclusion there. MSU offers many more fields and is D1 rated. Some other studies are comparable, but OM is king in Accountancy and strong in Pharmacy. MSU has a top notch vet school and it's also the largest such facility in the country.

Louisiana I would imagine Loyola edges out the win as far as academics go.

South Carolina Admissions Report
SAT Range: 1240-1390
ACT Range: 25-30
Clemson Admissions Report
SAT Range:1290-1440
ACT Range: 27-31
You're right, such a huge gap there. 50 points on the SAT is what, five total questions correct? And hasn't clemson already been caught once trying to manipulate things to climb academic rankings?
Honestly, both major schools in SC are pretty average. They're each good in a select few programs, but neither is on the level of UNC, for instance. shite for the best education if it was my kid, I'd send them to Furman or Wofford.

For Georgia, it's Emory University in Atlanta.

Well, to be fair they used to be in the SEC.

Would argue MTSU is better than vandy but that’s neither here nor there

I have relatives that graduated Emory and they are as dumb as posts.
At least the geeks at ATL Poly can do things.
Now for defending the Bumbles I must go shower.

Samford is certainly respected, but not 1st in the state
For best academics in Alabama, I can make compelling arguments for Birmingham Southern and also for Auburn
UAB might even be in the conversation

I was talking about your medical school.

Well, unfortunately the answer is not Georgia
Not unfortunate at all. We're a state school and obligated to offer a wide range of majors and accept a crossrange of students.
It would be difficult at best to
surpass Emory or an engineering school like GT.

I am amazed at the rise of UGA academically over the past 40 years. I had 2 friends (Clemson fans) that couldn't get into Clemson in 1981 that went to UGA. It's not that way any more.

Tulane is a much better school than Loyola
