Is it necessary for all cheerleaders to take pictures holding the girl up like that? I've seen it at bars, on the beach, at festivals, etc...

I guess it's a kind of a show-off deal. Not easy to do, after all...

I was in ireland this summer w someone who was in the band then...she said some folks got their passports stolen and the US ambassador to Ireland had them over for dinner at his house because they were screwed for a couple days

I got to travel to Italy with the MDB for our 100 year anniversary two summers ago. We brought both the marching band and our wind ensemble. We performed multiple parades in locations such as Venice, Florence and Padova, along with many others. Our wind ensemble performed multiple joint performances with local Italian ensembles, including a local fire brigade band. Here is a quick video compilation of us while we were in Padova.

What's the deal with those uniforms? All band uniforms look ridiculous, with their peacock hats and drop-front pants, to be sure, but is there a sentimental reason for the 1970s / mariachi band style of the GBFTL unis?
