Or because he was a good value at the spot and they need a QB? That was a whole lotta projection just to pat yourself on the back about some fricking Big 12 QB’s.

I find it funny that Cam and Will (players that originally played for Florida) both ended up in Carolina.

They took Grier because they needed a back up and he was the best available. He’s a local kid from Davison N.C. who will probably never be a long term NFL starter. They are not going to the spread and teams may be going to take some spread concepts but nobody is going straight up Big 12 all out spread no defense football.

And Cam isn't a spread QB? Only the greatest one to ever play the game

Wuh? Hyperbole much?

I guarantee you every coach in the NFL would take Russell Wilson and Steve Young (the first two off the top of my head) over Newton.

Those two are better passers, sure. Although they've had the benefit of playing behind some of the best OLs in their eras with the help of Hall of Famers like Jerry Rice and Marshawn Lynch. Cam has had one of rhe worst OLs in the game every single season so far, one year they didn't even have a single OT on the roster that was drafted, and Cam played injured a ton bc of that. The only real weapons Cam has ever had are Olsen, and then a couple seasons of Steve Smith and Mccaffery. These things should definitely be taken into consideration when making these comparisons.

But as a Dual-Threat, there has never been a QB in the history of the game with a better passing/ rushing combo than Cam Newton and that's absolutely not hyperbole
