As this nonsense spins more and more out of control - when does the Woke mob turn on LSU and have them change the name from Tigers - to Vipers or Pelicans or Storm or something ridiculous- I mean at some point - people won’t put up with this anymore - am I correct?

Seems like only a matter of time till the mob figures out Tigers is paying homage to the name of the confederate infantry troops from Louisiana?

All this makes me beyond sad - but what turns the tide back to common sense?

First it will be the Braves, Chiefs and Seminoles. Then it will be anything Southern to include homes built prior to 1865. The Civil War Battlefields and names on Military Installations. This has to be done before the Hispanic population realizes that the AA Community makes up only 13% of the population. Why that happens look out.

Just bow up to these idiots. They’ll bitch and moan and move on to the next thing. People have been after the Redskins for 40 years which is way more offensive

If Alleva is here right now Im would actually be worried, dude would cave like the little bitch that he is.

But Woodward will never cave. Dude is a Baton Rouge baw through and through.

Will never happen.

I know some of that is hyperbole but you may not be far off. I live in Little Rock and they quietly removed a Confederate statue from MacArthur Park to “to a more appropriate place”. Mind you, MacArthur Park is a former military base and now historical military museum on the grounds.

It was a pretty innocuous statue. Memorial for a company of volunteers from Pulaski County. None of the Lost Cause language on it you see at some of the other monuments and memorials placed by DOTC. And it is actually listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Many buildings were built with Slave Labor (Also many buildings in Washington including the White House). The bigger issue will be

1) Mascots (Rebels, Volunteers, Redskins, etc.)
2) Traditions (Gator Bait, Tiger Bait, anything with the word DIXIE, any songs tied to the confederate south, etc.)
2) Building Names (Auburn has a building named after George Wallace, guaranteed to see that changed), but also has many building of folks who fought on the confederate side, etc.

Google is your friend.

Louisiana Tigers was the common nickname for certain infantry troops from the State of Louisiana in the Confederate army during the American Civil War. Originally applied to a specific company, the nickname expanded to a battalion, then to a brigade, and eventually to all Louisiana troops within the Army of Northern Virginia. Although the exact composition of the Louisiana Tigers changed as the war progressed, they developed a reputation as fearless, hard-fighting shock troops.

Funny how Google doesn’t know that they were called Fighting Tigers in the Mexican War prior to the Civil War.

the Rant's going to have to give up the nick name Gump for Bama fans since it's based on Forrest Gump, named for a confederate General and the father of the KKK.

I'm not an LSU fan, but Tigers is still just fine. However, if a change is needed Nutria would work as well as anything else, even if there aren't any purple and gold Nutria.

Many Southern school nicknames came about this way - so I’m sure the mob is coming after it all - The SEC thinks it’s getting ahead of the curb coming after Mississippi but they are wrong

Mexican American war was when it started, not the civil war... 4 regiments from louisiana were called the tigers and have been in every war since
