How important is LSU finishing strong (8-4) for Ole Miss' CFP hopes?

If LSU loses 1 of the last 2 (Vandy, Oklahoma) and finishes the year 7-5 while Kentucky loses their last 2 (Texas, Louisville) to finish 4-8, what kind of influence does that have over their resume in the eyes of the committee (knowing it's impossible to guess what those goofs will do anyway)?

I don’t know if it matters a whole lot, but if I’m an Ole Miss fan I’m certainly rooting for LSU.

It's not. Ole Miss controls its destiny. If we win out, we're in. If not, we won't be.

Less important than UGA and SC winning out probably? Nothing LSU can do will be worse than the UK loss. Based off of last night's rankings, I think Ole Miss is in if they win out unless they get FSU'd by a Dart injury so I'm not really sure it matters. Playoff committee tends to reward teams that finish strong.

Ole Miss is so out of touch. They were #11 in the CFP last week and one of their accounts tweeted “soak it in.”

That was worse than a co-division champ banner.

Agree - Carolina beating Clemson would be helpful for both of us.

All I can add are the words of the CFP Director, Rich Clark, on SOS..........

“That is a very important metric, it’s not the only metric, (but) it’s one that cross-cuts across conferences and team schedules,” Clark said, “and it gives us a look so we can compare teams more accurately based on their strength of schedule. It helps us to look at teams in a more fair manner.

“Record matters,”
Clark said, “but we’re not trying to pick the most deserving teams, we’re trying to pick the best teams.”

Those statements were made two weeks ago. It appears (to me) he and the committee have waffled a bit in terms of the rankings they've come out with. I dunno. Right now at this point, I categorize them as stupid.

I'm not sure I've ever seen a team who is winning get dropped later in the season because their opponents earlier in the season lost more games. If the CFP committee didn't feel compelled to put out rankings in November, I might have a different opinion.

We beat Oklahoma too so that game is a wash. Would be good for LSU to beat Vandy but better, as someone mentioned, for USC to beat Clemson.

Lsu711 must have trouble sitting down with all that butthurt.

These shows and rankings this early are so dumb. All it does is leaves the committee open to criticism because they have to keep moving the goalposts to justify the rankings each week.

I think he means to say "the teams the networks tell us to pick."

I'm sure the other teams that lost to Vandy didn't expect to lose either. LSU is broken right now. I don't see why anyone who has watched the two teams play would objectively expect LSU to win.
