I'd imagine we swap places #2 <--> #7

I agree. However is there an argument for Ole Miss to take their spot? I know the committee won’t do it but man they should

Probably the same number of spots as Bama did when Texas destroyed Bama on their home field.

Good question fatboy.

Texas’ resume looks just like Miami’s when UGA goes in no lube for a 2nd time though.

If Oregon & Georgia wins..
1. Oregon
2. Georgia
3.
4.
5. Texas
6. Penn State
7. Notre Dame

If Oregon & Texas wins..
1. Oregon
2. Texas
3.
4.
5. Notre Dame
6. Penn State
7. Tennessee
8. Georgia

If Penn State & Georgia wins..
1. Penn State
2. Georgia
3.
4.
5. Texas
6. Oregon
7. Notre Dame

If Penn State & Texas wins..
1. Texas
2. Penn State
3.
4.
5. Oregon
6. Notre Dame
7. Georgia

Or something like this if they want to avoid a 3rd rematch between Texas and Georgia until the finals.. if they don't want the final to be a 3rd rematch, then they will be on the same side of the bracket.

Why would Texas stay above 2 teams who have 1 loss?
Edit yes Penn St would have 2 losses then. I agree with Texas over them. Why Notre Dame though?

0% chance a 2 loss Texas is over a 1 loss Oregon

Because they said they aren't going to punish teams for losing the CCG.. but I'm looking at it from a different angle..

If Georgia is 2..

Texas needs to be 5 or 8 to try and avoid a 3rd rematch

If Texas is 2..

Georgia needs to be 8 or 9 for the same reason..

etc

PSU would have 2 losses and ND didn't play a conference champ game and lost to NIU at home.

Yep, exactly the same apart from Texas playing 6 ranked teams (after Saturday) and Miami playing zero. Miami also has two losses to unranked teams and we have none, aside from that though, you can’t tell the difference.

yeah that one is weird.. but it isn't 0% if PSU blows them out.. but I understand your point.. I just think it's stupid for 2 teams to possibly play 3 times.. the winner's next game could be against the same team on New Years. That's stupid.

it all depends on what the committee wants to do with the 2 teams

No sir. Check again. Texas will have played 1 ranked team twice(UGA) and they will have lost badly both times.

lmao you can just smell the fear. After promising us we'd go .500 or worse in our first year, we're not sec ready, we're soft, yada yada, SEC fans won't be able to stomach us winning the conference in year 1. This is simply a coping mechanism.
I don't know if we'll win but, if we do, I can't wait for the melt and the "georgia was overrated anyway" posts

I think they put Texas, ND, Penn State in some 5, 6, 7 order than ensures all host and none play a conference team in round 1. They all will have somewhat similar resumes with no big wins but only 1-2 losses (all 3 with 1 "regular season loss"). Notre Dame's schedule/SOR will be the lowest of the 3 and it works out in terms of no conference rematches for them to be #7 and play Indiana.

#1 Oregon
#2 Georgia
#3 SMU
#4 Boise State
#5 Texas
#6 Penn State
#7 Notre Dame
#8 Ohio State
#9 Tennessee
#10 Indiana
#11 Alabama
#12 Arizona State/Iowa State

#5 Texas vs #12 Arizona State/Iowa State (winner vs #4 Boise State)

#6 Penn State vs #11 Alabama (winner vs #3 SMU)

#7 Notre Dame vs #10 Indiana (winner #2 Georgia)

#8 Ohio State vs #9 Tennessee (winner vs #1 Oregon)

I disagree simply because they are undefeated currently with a great resume. Imho Oregon is the only team who will not fall farther than they must if they lose their championship game. Every other team had warts going into this game

Very likely final ranking after Saturday. Boise and SMU at 3 and 4 is gross though. They have to change the rules for 1st round byes imho

It is absolutely nuts to have teams who will either be 3 or 4 if they win or out of the playoffs if they lose lol
