How far will Lane take LSU? What can LSU fans expect from him?

I am interested to see what Lane Kiffin will bring to LSU from a scheme standpoint. I expect their future offense will perform at a higher level than it did under him at Ole Miss. Lane will likely get LSU into the playoff and he has a strong track record of getting solid quarterback play like he did with Compton and Sims earlier in his career. This kind of success will also help attract top receivers.
That said, Lane has never been a true CEO-style head coach. He'll likely struggle to recruit heavily from traditional high school pipelines which is important in La. and across the Gulf Coast. Because of that, his recruiting will lag at times pushing him to go back to his honey hole: the transfer portal. He'll land a few eye-catching players but he hasn't shown the ability to consistently build or develop an above-average defense.
LSU will probably reach the playoff under him but a deep run will be unlikely. That would still be an improvement over LSU's current situation. Kiffin is definitely an improvement over BK in that Tiger fans will at least become more enthusiastic than they have been over the last few years. That's still a good thing if you think about it. But, if LSU wants to reach the level of Alabama or Georgia they will eventually need a stronger overall head coach.
FWIW, just my two cents.

The fact that Florida tried to hire him and failed means he’ll win 3 nattys

I try not to doubt you tCAW. But I am having a hard time putting these two things together:
==
He'll make the playoffs though. It doesn't take much these days. But he'll never win the big one as a HC unfortunately

All the way to multiple national championships and permanent blue blood status.
Do you have any other questions I can help with?

I think he'll do a little better once he gets going in year 2 or so.

Well LSU won 35 games in 3 and a half years and played for the SEC championship in BKs 1st season. So now we know BK quit giving a shite after his 1st year and still won games.Wine, women, golf was what he cared about.Imagine a coach with drive ,determination and a want to prove how good a coach he is in Lane Kiffin with LSUs recourses can do.Dumb arse Ed O won and so did Les ,is less ,Miles and that says a lot about the potential of the Tigers.

You're saying he will be better than Saban then?

I think in the current landscape 10-2 or even maybe 9-3 gets you in playoff contention.

Kiffin was 7-6 at Tennessee, 28-15 at USC for goodness sake, 26-13 at Florida Atlantic ( are they even division 1 ?), and 32-17 in the SEC at Ole Miss.
Not exactly a stellar record.

Im gonna go on record and say LSU under Lane will see more success than the Deboer Era at Bama.

Scheme wise I think it will look like OM.

Average LSU class ranking since tracking began is top 10. Most years they finish around the top five. This, irregardless of who is coaching the team.
Lane will do okay.

10+ wins for 4 out of 5 years. Pay attention.

So you think his offenses will be better than his Ole Miss offenses, but no chance in the playoffs… and recruiting will be an issue at LSU? Actually think about this for a moment.
Brian Kelly recruited top 5 classes at LSU — after killing a kid, humping a perennial benchwarmer on camera, badly faking a southern accent, and golfing more than some of the guys in PGA .

i think in a few years he could make his first ever conference championship game if he stops chasing teenage girls like he has been openly doing the past few years.
