If this defense was going against offenses that didn't run a spread offense and run as many plays as possible they would be even more dominant. It is just hard to compare bc of the offenses now.

This is my thought exactly. Is what Georgia has done even more impressive because of the spread offenses of today? If they finish this season with a strong defensive performance, they would have to be ranked among the elite, if not the greatest. It will be fun/interesting to see how it turns out.

Total Offensive rankings:

#84 UAB 7 points
#114 South Carolina 13 points
#124 Vandy 0 points
#18 Arkansas 0 points
#30 Auburn 10 points
#76 Kentucky 13 points

Average: #80 6.5 points

Total Offense is a pretty poor variable for ranking offenses for the record

Thanks for responding to another Aggie post to tell us all how obsessed we are with something.
And thank you for the continued thought about us!

The admissions office probably thought they had heard the last of you when they told you "no thanks" but it's good to know that you're still very enamored with Texas and every one of their football games! Turns out we really do have a lot of sidewalk fans!

It's 2021 yes, but they're still facing primarily run first offenses that don't really use tempo that effectively, and lack legitimate vertical threats to stretch the field.

They might as well have been playing in 2011 so far

1939 Tennessee Vols gave up 1.3 ppg, including 10 shutouts.

I think they have to win the title first.

I haven't seen a weakness from the games I have seen. Todays offenses are much harder to scheme against for an entire game bc it's rare not to get mismatches bc of tempo.

The Florida game is gonna be interesting, since that'll be the fist top 10 defense (#9) that they've faced.

Do you want to bet that they wont be top 10 on sunday?
Thats how this works.

Rinse and repeat next week

Not according to dan mullen. The better coached teams get more yards than their opponents.

Something that can't ever be determined. We might get a small idea after the season is over.

Dan Mullen, the best game day coach in football, and quarterback guru will expose Georgia’s defense….

I think your point is hard to argue against.

If they do match-up and Georgia can hold Alabama to single digits (even despite some of their struggles this year), and maybe an Ohio State, then we'll know.

They certainly look the part today, but I think it's fair to say that literally no one can answer this question right now.

VASTLY MORE EXPENSIVE

$30,000,000 is the estimated cost of the entire team. Defense is the bigger portion of that.

Wonder who the rich boosters in Southwest Georgia who are distorting the entire college football foundations are...

So roughly 15% of the cost of an NFL roster for more players... I'll take it. Also... lol.

Don’t know what integration and making you happy has to do with great defensive teams?

Until they play an offense with a pulse we will never know...

But, barring that, I'd say they stack up pretty good against the top 10-15 Defenses in the last 20-25 yrs..

The problem is with the 3yr sophomore and 3yr Jr's jumping to the pros both offense & defenses will never be what they once were..

Most of the top teams suffered huge losses via the portal and draft.. Georgia convinced a few of their guys to come back and play for the elusive NC. A luxury to be sure! So, there can be no definitive answer to the OP'S question. Just a guess as to where they would of stacked up...and even that might be disingenuous either way.
