In terms of competition for candidates? None.

truth. SC is a good job. Good money, good location, right in the middle lots of talent and low expectations.

IMO, it all comes down to the administration at Miami. For years now, they have not been at all interested in having a good football program. They have great academics and that is all the current admins are concerned with.
For Miami to attract a proven coach, they are going to have to commit to the program, particularly improving some of the worst facilities in the country for a semi-relevant program. If they dont, they won't get anyone and will continue to suck. Goes hand in hand with recruiting as well. If Miami commits to the program, coach, and facilities, those south Florida kids will stay home and Miami will be a powerhouse again fast.
Personally I don't see that commitment happening and I see miami continuing to suck.

Miami just needs to go ahead and hire Michael Irvin and let the whole program bottom out. It's sad to see all those aging ex Miami football players showing up for big games they lose.

They should continue to go the unproven route and hire Gustav.

Really doesn't matter on which job is better. The jobs are different enough that I don't think the same candidates will be truly interested in both jobs.

Better question, how does the SC job availability affect Miami?

Not sure what is funny about that statement. Miami would be a shitty job.

It means Eddie O may be crootin' for Miami on LSU's dime. Wouldn't that be something if ed came full circle and ended up back at the "U"

I don't even have a problem with Miami's administration de-emphasizing football. They don't need football.

Bruh you and I have different definitions of what history is. Miami's history for you consist of the time I was born in 85 up until the early 2000's. I can tell because that was the span of there "better history". Just like how we've been better in the last few years. So if we're cherry picking gaps in time then we also have great history

What's funny is that this is very likely true. Who would have thought that 15 years ago?

There's a lot of better jobs coming open and Miami is kind of a challenging gig.
Better jobs:
USC
Va. Tech
Maryland
Illinois
USCe
UCF
I think Lane Kiffin gets a call from Miami.

If I was an up and coming head coach, or an established one looking to make a move, South Carolina would be really tempting. Good fans, good facilities, good money, and good talent.
Hell it might be as good as the USCw job. The pay will be about the same and the fans will be more patient while you build up your program. For a younger coach it would be awfully tempting to settle into a program you could stay at for a decade or more with the right results.

Restoring the winning tradition and rejuvenating the fanbase at Miami is a tremendous undertaking for any coach. There will certainly be interest in the Miami job among the up-and-coming coaches that we share a mutual interest in, but when you look at the current state of the Hurricanes program, it has to be discouraging in a way.
The Miami administration continues to reduce the available resources to the football program, their games are virtually empty, and almost every stud recruit coming out of their backyard is being plucked away by everyone else.
Is Miami's history better than ours? Without question. But the current Miami program is a shell of what it used to be, and restoring the "swagger" of the old Miami teams is exactly what their current administration is trying to avoid.
Putting bias aside, SC is a more attractive job than Miami at this point in time.

Eleven or so years ago I would never have believed this possible.
Thank you, Steve Spurrier as well as the University for being willing to upgrade our facilities, stadium, etc.

That's because they don't offer athletic scholarships. That said, every school, ESPECIALLY THE IVIES, uses special admits.
