Unfortunately, each SEC team has guys who might do something like this, or worse, under the right set of circumstances. If it were my son that screwed up I would hope the coach/university would handle things internally and not in the papers but that rarely happens. The legal parts of it are awhile different matter.

Anyway, my experience says don't take pleasure from this, it could be your team next time and karma is a bitch. I hope the kid figures things out.

I am all ears. And for the record I don't claim to be an expert in criminal law, as I haven't practiced it in over a decade, and even then it was not in Texas.

But I am capable of understanding legitimate discussion on criminal matters. If you think I am wrong in my current assessment of the matter based on what is currently known publicly, please explain why.

He'll minimize it by saying Buddy blew under the limit, it was just a joint, and guns are supposed to be legal in Texas.

I think he should sit for 4 games minimum. Doesn't matter that he didn't blow legal limit. He made 3 bad decisions that hurt himself and his team. I'd be willing to consider a 6 game suspension...until these guys feel the pain and are forced to deal with the consequences of their actions, nothing will change.

You won’t like my answer.

He will focus on helping the player if at all possible.

That said, he also will hold him accountable and there will be consequences of some kind.

You need to realize that Jimbos focus is honestly growing young men. Abandoning him is the last thing he wants to do. But he can’t ignore it either.

So it’s a fine line. I expect him to error on giving the player an opportunity to grow and learn better.

After all, that’s what teachers do. Good ones anyway. Teach. Develop. And Grow their students.

That is his job.

Will deny anything happened, then have his son dress up like him for Halloween. If how Winston was handled is any indication

Of course that’s what he should do. My question is what will he do?

Judging by the last time negativity got thrown at his program, I don’t know if he’ll handle it that well.

Yeah, it will be pretty much standard. I don’t think he’d handle it any different than any other SEC coach would.

What would you suggest, a Team vote?

I’m sure it will be a thoughtful and focused discourse. And not the incoherent ramblings of a buffoon.
