If Tennessee lost in a close one, they wouldn't have dropped so far. UT was blown out in Lexington...

It's a respect issue.
Tenn doesn't have the trust and respect of pollsters. The other teams, UK, Zags, Dook et al are known commodities. Tenn lays an egg on national TV; hence the fall.

It's the same thing in football. It a newcomer like a Syracuse or an Iowa State creeps into the top 5 and then loses by 25 to a Clemson, they're going to sink like a rock in the polls.

Because Gonzaga kicked Dukes arse early in the year. Virginia didn’t.

I'm very happy with Tennessee falling to 5th. Hopefully they feel disrespected and use it as motivation.
yeah, if I'm a Tennessee fan then this is a good motivator at a pivotal point of the season.

As for the person who said Gonzaga was the Notre Dame of college basketball... Whuh?

Not sure what you were going for, but no. Heck, Notre Dame basketball has been to the same # of final fours (1) and twice as many elite 8s and sweet sixteens. Villanova is a better answer.

Gonzaga is the Villanova of college basketball?
Not sure that makes sense ?

This would be the response from Gary Parrish...

quote:

there's also a sensible case to be made for the Zags considering they are A) 25-2 with a neutral-court win over Duke and zero losses to teams ranked outside of the top 10, B) 12-2 vs. top 100 KenPom teams, C) in possession of a national-best 16-game winning streak featuring 16 double-digit wins coming by an average of 31.3 points per contest, and D) the owner of the nation's best offensive-efficiency rating.

There's nothing crazy about having that team No. 1.

AHH gotcha.

Not sure that is right though?

Nova won 2 of the last 3 national titles.

ND hasn't won one since what 88?

Wouldn't UCLA be the ND of CBB?

Sure they get close every now and then but haven't won one in a while (and have a very deep/rich history)

KenPom has Gonzaga at 3 and Tennessee at 7. There's no bias there.

But, eye test, top 5 should be:

1) Duke
2) Virginia
3) Kentucky
4) Tennessee
5) Gonzaga

I would agree, but I think Kentucky and TN would beat UVA.

Gonzaga kicked Duke's arse with one of their starters out (Tillie) and their back-up PG (Crandall). Gonzaga has played a pretty tough schedule this year and the WCC is the 6 best conference in the country this year (higher than the PAC-12)

There are nice parts of Washington, but Spokane is not one of them.

Spokane has some really nice areas and the downtown is pretty fine with the river and waterfall.

Gonzaga is currently sitting on the 5th best recruiting class for 2019 and when they sign 5 Star Oumar Ballo and 5 Star Pavel Zakharov they should be the #1 class.

They have the 4th best recruiting class for 2020 and if they sign 5 Star players Jalen Suggs, Julian Strawther, and Dominick Harris they will have signed the best back court in the country and #1 recruiting class in the US for the second year in a row.
