How do QBs leading the SEC in QBR do against Bama under Saban?

The worrying thing here is that Shurmur definitely has legs but unlike all the others on the list, he's not really a dual-threat.

I am aware. That's why I said he 'definitely has legs'. But he's not Manziel or Newton. He's a good runner but he's not the sort of elusive dual-threat that has given Bama fits.

Really dude? That's 3 Heisman winners, 4 3000 yard passers and 2 thousand yard rushers. Not to mention Chad Kelly could punt. That's a really dumb stat to pull considering the athletes listed.
Completely leaves out Tebow's 2009 season just because of his QBR, which is once again kind of ridiculous.

This stat is, shocker, incomplete. Nick Marshall had the best QBR in the SEC in 2014 and lost to Bama. Tebow had the best QBR in 2009. We know what happened that year. If the caveat is "at that time" that is dumb

Hey, the stats are the stats. Whether you think ESPN's QBR is useful or not is certainly up for debate. What's not debatable is the fact that QBs who have the best QBR in the SEC when they play Bama have fared pretty well.
To get away from the funny nature of Kyle Shurmur leading the SEC in QBR, all this graphic says is that an efficient QB who doesn't make mistakes give their team a shot to beat Bama. That makes sense. Alabama punishes you for mistakes. If your QB can avoid making mistakes, they have fewer chances to punish you. Simple.

Brandon Allen had the best QBR in the SEC in 2015. He had a 13.6 QBR against Bama

Yeah, I think the stat is about being #1 in QBR before the game was played. Marshall's 95.8 against probably jumped him into first for the season. Look, I didn't compile the thing. I just presented it.
