If AU beats both Arkansas and Tennessee on the road, that should be an indicator that they are heading in the right direction.

Well yeah cause or offense went to running every down just to try and get the game over, LSU could have scored plenty more if needed.

I'm not quite sure what to take from the game. How do you think we did?
About the only thing I can take away from it is:
in sloppy conditions with both teams trying, Auburn is no match for Jeremy Hill and the LSU O-line. Now, that doesn't necessarily mean Auburn is weak; it just might mean that Hill is a beast.
Also, we learned Jarvis Landry (LSU WR) can catch in the rain, and run tight routes on a sloppy field.
Beyond that, the weather in the first half negated most of what Auburn wanted to do; point differential in the second half had LSU playing to run the clock out. Pretty fair to say, neither half showed both teams at their best.

Correct, they were not trying too. Maybe they should have to keep all your false hopes down.

I'm sorry, it just wasn't as close a game as AU fans want to believe. I'll say that it was close to being close, but it wasn't close.
I believe LSU threw the ball 4 times in the 4th quarter, the first play of the quarter for a TD, then a PI called on OBJ on 2nd and 9 and an incompletion on 3rd and 17 on their next possession, and once on 3rd and 11 in their 3rd drive of the quarter. Their 4th possession had no passes, but the 3 runs burned all of AU's timeouts, and then the victory formation for the last play.
LSU's last THREE possessions of the game were spent just trying to run the clock out.

In my opinion, it seemed very clear that LSU felt they had the game in hand, and was trying to get it over with. We saw long stretches of Hilliard in the second half, along with Blue; and a lot of 1 WR sets.
If LSU had meant to blow Auburn out, you see a lot more Hill, and a lot more Beckham and Landry on the field at the same time in the 2nd half. And far more aggressive play-calling. We didn't.
Now, Auburn made a run to make it respectable, and closer than it should have been, no doubt. Easing off to avoid embarrassing the opponent and risking injury to starters did cost LSU momentum. But Auburn was not going to win that game.
If LSU had meant to blow Auburn out, you see a lot more Hill, and a lot more Beckham and Landry on the field at the same time in the 2nd half. And far more aggressive play-calling. We didn't.

You lost 35-21. Auburn showed it had fight and never quit but LSU appeared to be much better!!

The last two and a half LSU possessions were meant to run out the clock, and rightfully so. But to say LSU spent the entire second half playing not to lose is silly. LSU attempted 11 passes and 11 passes in the 3rd quarter for 194 yards of offense, including a fake field goal. LSU didn't change philosophy and start strictly running to milk the clock until the Odell Beckham PI call.

I'm interested to see how next year shakes out just because of the mass exodus of senior QBs. Mett, McCarron, Manziel(jr) in the west, and Murray in the east. Gonna be an interesting year. Ole Miss will most likely have the #1 qb coming into next year.

On every drive of the second half except the last, LSU threw the ball.
On 3/6 drives (not counting final one when trying to run out clock), LSU threw the ball more times than they ran it.
In no drive (except the last) did LSU not attempt a pass in the second half.
In only 1 drive did LSU run the ball more than two times in a row (except the last).

Like I posted before, LSU could have destroyed Auburn had it tried to; but Les decided he had the win, and closed it down to avoid injuries and embarrassing his opponent.
edited to add- if you don't know, then Kenny Hilliard is basically a kneel-down. He brings less impact than Ingram for the Saints, and that's saying a lot.

You cannot spot the best team in the country 14 points and expect much. LSU packed it in and it could have bit them in the arse.
Our boys played hard and we will tire a lot of teams out like we did against LSu...we just need to come out stronger in the 1st half. We have been sleep walking the 2Q every game this season.
