Not too many fans are brushing it off. I know, a couple of posters here have tried to justify his actions on the basis of him defending his sister, but really what he did was reprehensible. I think about that video just about every time he makes a big play.

The question is what type of discipline he should face for those actions? I don't think he should have been denied a football career based on one violent act, particularly when he did not have a history of acting out like that.

If State had cut him loose, he would have played 1 year in JUCO and then every other SEC team would be falling all over themselves trying to sign him.

I thought his punishment seemed light, but like I said already he does seem to have put that incident behind him. If he was being a huge thug I could see people criticizing the light discipline, otherwise what's the point in even bringing it up 2 years later?

No spin from State fans. None of us had anything to do with how it was dealt with. Any action that was taken was from the Administration/Coaching staff and since he was not even enrolled as a student, technically they did not have to do anything about it. So if any school needed to deal with it, it would have been his high school.

Also had he been just a regular student who was not a football player then the incident would have never been publicized to the extent it was. If he had been coming to State on a full academic scholarship, then he would have still been accepted and would still be a student today.

Plus this a dead horse and it has beat enough in the last two + years.

Thank you. I feel like your attitude towards it is the way most of the state fans I know feel about it. Think every fan’s team has had guys we don’t root for but they are on the team and good so you find it hard to not appreciate their value. I just have issue with a few of the posters trying to justify what he did and the one moron saying Simmons is such an upstanding student and human being. I’d imagine the rational fans appreciate what he’s helped accomplish at state but wouldn’t be upset if he never made a dime in the nfl

Really C34? You are ok with him beating a woman defending his sister? There is NO reason to ever hit a woman. ZERO. Simply pull her off. I would have never thought you would defend that.

You Ole Miss fans kill me. I remember all the talk going back to 2015 about some of your players actually BEATING the shite out of their girlfriends etc and it always got covered up. Of course all your fans denied it ever happened.

Lol also, Markell Pack, only weeks after his SR season and the 2017 season ended then he was magically arrested for the same. They only beat women in Oxford after the seasons end? So were the rumors true that this was going on but covered up and dealt with under the table as to keep the players on the field? And what about your DE after the 2016 season? Did he get booted. Wait, he is still on your roster. I can dig up more if needed. Glass houses bitches.

Yes- there are times a woman has to be hit. You obviously havent watched the entire video to put happened in context. Before Simmons hit the woman- he had tried REPEATEDLY to break up the fight. The womnan simply wouldnt stop attacking his family. He ended the attack.

You need to watch Fatal Attraction or you obviously have never dealt with black women in a fight- LINK

If you’re talking about Charles Wiley then the charges were dropped. The rest of the shite you’re babbling about is nonsense that you dreamt up on ED.

Take that up with the Judge. He pled "no contest" to simple assault, a misdemeanor, and paid fines and restitution for it.

If she had any serious injuries, he could have been charged with a felony and probably would have done jail time. Sorry if you don't like the way criminal law works.

Blame whoever you want. You acting like it didn’t happen and continue rooting for him is on you.

Personally I will never, under any circumstances, be ok with a man beating a woman. I don’t give a fuch if they play for LSU, the saints, whoever.

Any man that would do that is an incredibly big price of shite and society would be better off if he was in a cage.

No real fan is going to justify what he did. But in the grand scheme of things, he is taking advantage of his second chance. A lot of SEC teams recruited him, and I know just about everyone on this board would want him on their team. All you can ask of the kid is to learn from his mistakes and live a exemplary life after making such a huge mistake. I feel like he has done that on campus and in the community.

"It wasn't always on me, like, 'Jeffrey, you need to do this,'" Simmons said. "It was just, 'Jeffery, handle your business.' I did what I had to do on and off the field. This first semester, with my GPA, I had a 4.0 ... I was focused. On and off the field, I worry about school and football."

Women don’t behave that way. That was a hoodrat. Either way, I actually didn’t like them keeping him at the time. My posts back then prove that. But the kid has been on the straight and narrow since, so yeah I give him the benefit of the doubt unless he messes up again.

He literally did not receive one ounce of punishment. He beat the dog shite out of a woman and everything went back to normal because he was a good football player.

Did he deserve a second chance? Sure
Did he deserve some sort of punishment? You’re goddamn right he did

He’s a dominant defensive lineman. He’s also a woman beater.

Because it happened before he ever stepped foot on a college campus.

quote:

He was fined $175 for his simple assault plea, and was fined another $300 for being found guilty of malicious mischief. He will also pay over $800 in restitution.

He paid what the court decided. What more do you want him to do?

The benefit of the doubt?

Yeah he for sure deserves that, he splits double teams better than he tried to split that woman’s head.

But he sure can play football good, right?

Four pages of State fans supporting a woman beater.

No matter how much you support him and pathetically attempt to justify that it’s ok for him to beat a woman because he hasn’t done it in the last three years and is on the Presidents Roll in his physical education major. He still won’t be a first round pick.

So what you’re telling me is a 300 lb football star was not strong enough to hold that woman back or athletic enough to put himself between her and his sister?

Yeah, you’re right. He deserves a life sentence and should be homeless right now. Oh wait, if State cut him loose, LSU and others would be lining up to have him play for them.
