They may start, they won't finish. Enjoy first couple of weeks.

Sometimes I feel like they are just saying stuff just to say they tried but I don’t really know maybe we will play and I pray to god that we do

Season played: 45-60%.
People in stands and tailgating: 10%

Feeling good that it's played, but it lacks the allure of every other year. Just doesn't feel right knowing big time college football will be played across the country for spring game crowds. Guess that's better than no football.

I predict a full season will be played, but I expect Missouri, Vanderbilt, and Tennessee will drop out before the season is over.

Going up! Was at 25% there about now I'm up to about 35-40%. Play ball!

60%. I think that it’s very possible we lose a couple teams and that might be the domino, but I also see declining cases and declining positivity rates and that hope comes through.

75% sure the season starts, and that will rise as more schools pull the plug on in person classes.
Schools and athletic departments are executing a PR and financial dance. They had to have general students back on campus, otherwise there was no way to justify playing. No way to claim these are student athletes when actual students were all at home for safety reasons. The schools also needed those tuition checks to clear.
Mission accomplished. Kids are on campus. Checks are cashed. Now begins the move toward online only. That’s what the employed staffs wanted any way. That’s what the risk management teams want. That’s what many parents want.
The move to online gets these teams to a modified bubble environment, and that increases the odds of playing the season. Even getting through half the games is a huge financial advantage that sustains athletic departments through the crisis. Half a loaf of TV money is better than none. They are playing.

It really boils down to the intestinal fortitude of the schools. So far, it seems like they actually wan't to play a season, and if that's the case they will. the truth of this pandemic is that it is not the problem the media wants you to believe it is.
yesterday I read that 2.7% of all fatal cases are in people under the age of 44. which means of the 170k death tally, fewer than 5000 were under 44. SPanish flu was SOOOOOO much worse in terms of lethality in young and healthy, and they played football to some extent every year of that pandemic.

I agree. You'd think a major university would have a hybrid plan in place.
Get the kids enrolled and on campus, then shut down at the first sign of covid seems like conniving BS.

I'm pessimistic. The liability issues are staggering.
Sure, maybe a player signs off of liability and plays, that doesn't mean his grandmother did, if he passes it to her. Or someone's kid. Or a fan in the stands.
This is a lawyer's wet dream come true.

I tell you what if the SEC ACC & Big 12 finish their schedules & we have a successful playoff imagine how bad the Big 10 & Pac 12 will look. Big 10 fans will be fuming with each successful exciting weekend. I absolutely love it!!
I think the 3 conferences have dug in and won't back down now no matter what. Short of a catastrophe, highly unlikely, I think the season is on no matter what. The same is true of the 2 which have cancelled....I dont think they back down now either.

Concerning Notre Dame, from what I understand, the plan is to send a strong message at the beginning of the semester that non-compliance with health policies will not be tolerated. It's online only for undergrads until September 2nd (graduate student lockdown is only for a week).
In addition, an ND spokesman stated that by not complying with university policy the hosts of the party may have "jeopardized their ability to remain a part of the University community." Considering they are seniors, hosting a large party was not a very good idea.

I am sitting right in the middle at 50/50. The problem I see is over half the school will probably be all online by then unless the school really has its act together for testing and quarantining. Hard to trust the liberal a holes running universities to have their act together. They want it all closed down to influence the election.
