I really don't have an issue with ND being ranked where they are.
I hate to see teams with razor thin losses to other highly ranked teams passed by teams who don't have better quality wins and have just played an extra bad team.
The problem will be that ND won't drop as the season progresses and teams below them accrue more quality wins.

all these teams that don't play ranked teams rest of the way is an absolute joke
AP voters hype up the SEC every year.
How do we know any of them are any good?
Texas A&M - There best win is against a team with this whole thread being about overrated.
Ole Miss- They almost lost to Washington State at home. A team Washington beat by 40. (Washington also only having 1 loss to the best team in the country and is still not ranked btw)
Alabama - They beat some "ranked" SEC teams but got destroyed by Florida State and they can't even win an ACC game.
Georgia - lost at home to that same Alabama team and needed refs to beat Auburn
LSU - Sweet Clemson win. Clemson sucks and so do you.
Tennessee - Could have lost to Arkansas who got destroyed by Notre Dame (once again who this thread is about being overrated).
Oklahoma - Thanks for destroying Michigan.
Missouri - Lost their only ranked matchup at home to a team that lost to Florida State.
Texas - Buckeye's b****
Vanderbilt - Zero wins over teams in the top 25 currently.
Just because there is a number next to your name doesn't make you a good team.
The SEC will find that out again come playoff time.

The way they are ranking Notre Dame should be the way they rank every team.
If they think they are the number 13 team in the country still because their losses are to good teams, then good job not just making it about wins and losses.
Now apply that standard to every team. If number 2 loses to number 1 and you still think number 2 is the second best team in the country, leave them at 2.
I posted before I read this but it was exactly my point. People rant about the number of losses for ranked teams and simultaneously bemoan teams not getting credit for tougher schedules.
ND has played razor thin games against two teams in the top 5.
The problem isn't where they're ranked now. The problem will be if they stay ahead of teams that start to accrue more quality wins than them.

We can’t really complain can we?
ND is built up by ESPN because they will make them massive $ if they make the playoffs.
ESPN would make 10s of millions more with a 7-5 ND in the playoffs than a 10-2 middle class P2 team.
ESPN is the hand that feeds us.

By a combined 4 points.
You’re lucky they’re not ranked #5. If they beat #20 this weekend we’ll still have people crowing about their ranking even though they’ll be well situated to end the season on a 10 game win streak. They’re deserving of their ranking. No one else in the SEC has manhandled Arkansas and shut down their offense like ND did

Sounds to me like you think Washington should be ranked ahead of ND.

Maybe, but that could be because the SEC had a recent stretch of winning 7 straight National Championships and are still in the middle of being in the most dominant streak in NCAA football history. Seems like a certain amount of hype is justified.

i can make a much better argument for their ranking than yours. MUCH.

They schooled the Dawgs last year.
Not really.
They turned a backup QBs mistake into a TD right before halftime and then got a 2 for 1 at start of 2nd half and returned a kickoff for a TD.
That was the difference in the game.

Defensively, they schooled the Dawgs.

you're right. Any team that is spotted a 7 point lead o. the 4th play of the game (punt block) after being gifted a phantom bogus 15yd penalty that wiped out the opponents big gain,
then had the opponent flagged for 13 penalties over 100 yds, then had the opponent's last minute go ahead kickoff return TD called back with just two minutes left, AND all this while playing at home, certainly should have won that game.
I mean, unless they were playing a really good team that overcame all that on the road.

Easy to forget that Aggie beat the refs and Notre Dame that night

Everyone (rightly) complains about the missed holding on the TD play, but those still shots of ND players committing holding, pass interference, etc., tell a story.

Notre Dame is definitely a top 13 team, but they shouldnt be ranked 13 just yet. The losses to A&M and Miami prove they are not a top 5 team, and to justify being in that ~top 10 bubble range they need to win out their games
Unfortunately they are ranked as if they already won out their schedule. They will likely wind up in the #6 or #7 spot because they will get to rise with their wins while other teams lose, giving them a home playoff game instead of going on the road (which is what they should have to do for losing 2/3 big games on their schedule)
Hopefully USC beats them and ends the farce.

I don't know where they should be ranked, but I know this: they are a really good football team. If they get their defense figured out, they could win the NC.
I think Carr could win a Heisman there - he's so, so good for a freshman .
