Was the architect in charge of building some of A&M's buildings from the USSR?
I don't know but some of the structures just come off very "russian"
they just come off as very contemporary 50s/60s architecture to me

so what exactly will be ready for the 2014 season at kyle field?
SEZ
first deck and concourses of the east/student side
3 of the 4 "towers"/corners w/ arches
location of the field (south and lower)
NEZ & east/student side seat additions (closer to the field)
Overhang on east/Student side
Print Media press box
Suites on East/Student side
Some of the lodge boxes (corners)
...I think that's all.
Next year is the tear down and rebuild of the west/Alumni side. Maybe finish some of the exterior that isn't done.

That makes sense. I can see what you're referring to in the picture.

Looks like erector set U.
This is a project of unprecedented scale. The Aggies are basically rebuilding their stadium piece by piece. There is literally no other way this could be accomplished within the timeframe they have without using metal bleachers with cladding.
The final result will speak for itself:

Also, I'd like my LSU brethern to realize that if Tiger Stadium's north end zone was ever to be expanded, LSU would be forced to utilize many of the same construction methods and materials as TAMU has for Kyle Field.
After all, both the band and the football team enter the stadium at the north end. LSU would have to be assured of completing such an expansion before the first home game of the next season.
Just sayin'....

The " erector set" part of the South side will mostly be covered by the Bright Complex.

I assumed he was talking about the erector set endzones at Jordan Hare.

Highest resolution shot I've seen of part of Mizzou's East side expansion:

That's going to look great once they install the glass.

why did mizzou decide on such weird looking lights. do not like.

They're definitely different. Seems like they wanted them to blend in with the exterior.
Then again, I have no idea.

IIRC those lights use solar power. Those would be photovoltaic cells on the back.

Correct, Also the old light towers are being taken down, lighting has always been a problem at Faurot. One side of the field always looked dark, and these new lights will make our field look much better on T.V. IF you look at the original plans, they were going to keep the 4 light poles, but that has since been changed to the new solar power lights. They are currently removing the light poles, I drove by today and watched them being taken down

What about the lighting on the other side of the field? You said the old light towers were being taken down...what's going up in their place on the west side?

Those lights are the ones that were being removed today, I don't think they plan on having lights on that side of the field anymore

Wow, those lights on the east side must be some kinda powerful then.

I hope you're wrong as that will create enormous shadowing issues, especially on TV.
