That is the canopy and press box. It won't be an operational press box until 2015 as I understand it.

The press box above the student section will be for print media only. It will be ready in 2015.

That isn't the press box. That is the canopy over the student section. Press box is on the other side and will be done in the next phase after the season.
Just to clarify this point, and a couple of responses: the current press box on the west side will still be in use in 2014. In 2015, all press box operations, save and except the tv broadcast booth (radio will move), will move to the east side under the canopy. It will be sort of like Jerry World, in that respect (TV booth is separate from the rest of the press box).

A look at 15 west side. So many seats closer to the field.

Stellar photo of Tiger Stadium.

I really have to consciously remind myself which side of the stadium I'm looking at sometimes.

Canopy will not come out near as far as I thought it would. 100K + in the hot Texas sun, I smell the burning flesh already.

Been that way since the 1800s that side is usually in the shade. Students and opposing get the sun in their face.

So it looks like it will provide shade for only three rows from that direction from the sun.
Lucky them.

Pretty sure they have not had 100K+ since the 1800's. Getting 100K folks in a small space all acting as portable heating units and it will be toasty. Not sure why they did not bring that canopy out further. At that length they might as well not have built it at all.

That side is actually getting less crowded.

Games in the afternoons (or at worst starting at 11 or 12) means all those seats on the west side will be in the shade by halftime or earlier. It's not a big deal - they've looked into it.

God Tiger Stadium was already the loudest stadium in the country. Can't wait to hear it this year during the Bama game with the new addition opposite the student section holding all the sound in. break out the richter scale

Closer for the 12th Man to bounce sound off of as well.

it's going to be absurd. people at the bayou country superfest said the difference was noticeable and that's just at like 1/3rd capacity
