For all the people that want it back to 4 teams, you want to cut it off at Indiana, Ohio State, Georgia and Texas Tech?

Cutting out all these teams with one loss. Oregon, Ole Miss and A&M?

Oregon with one loss to Indiana and they are out?
Ole Miss with one loss to Georgia and they are out?
A&M with one loss to Texas and they are out?

That is ridiculous. We should just go back to the way it is before and have the polls pick the national champions before the bowl games and let everyone who might go pro just opt out. Either the post season matters for everyone or it doesn't. I don't want some of the bowl to matter and not others. Every bowl game should be a playoff game.

At the end of a football season, players don't want to play anymore for fun because they are tired and want rest, hence no one wants to play in the pro bowl.

The more teams that have an opportunity to play for a championship makes the championship more deserved.

So why not have a 128 team playoff?

8 is the right number. The CFP knows this. The SEC knows this. The BIG knows this.

It would work too perfectly though and fans wouldn’t ever want to expand beyond that.

But nope. We’ve got to have 3 and 4 loss teams in the playoff.

How about a FOUR team playoff? You know, the kind of playoff that makes sense and ensures the season actually means something.

You want a system that would have kept out Miami which is in the championship this year ?

Do results on the field matter or not ?

How is 8 the right number when two times out of two times a team ranked higher than 8th has made the championship game? That blows the stupid arse theory of only the top 4 or even 8 teams have a shot at winning.

8 could be conf. champs & runner up only.

Yup.

You should ask Miami since they already have two losses to Louisville and to SMU.

If we're going to expand the playoffs even further than they already are, then why not go ahead and expand it to 128 teams? Play a six game season and then begin the playoffs. It'd only take seven wins in a 128 team field to crown the champion.

Seriously. Getting to the college championship game is starting to feel like an NHL season that seemingly never ends.

16 is going to happen. They won’t reduce the number because that would mean a loss of revenue. 16 just makes more sense than 12. It won’t lengthen the season any and it will now allow the 1-4 teams to host a playoff game on campus rather than get a bye, which most schools might prefer considering how poorly 1-4 teams have done with the bye these first two years. Will be shocked if we’re not at 16 teams in a year or two.

You should say “ranked 8th or higher,” not “ranked higher than 8th” to make it accurate. But your point is certainly valid.

Not necessarily. You are just more likely to find the team that gets hot at the right time. Doesn’t mean they were best or most deserving.

So you mean like NCAA baseball or basketball…
