The man is 72, the sport has changed 180 degrees on him, Terry may be sick but he also could have just decided on the spur of the moment, “You know, I have had enough of this caca and I’m going to the river.” His prerogative, his business.

Why would Saban retire after a national championship? Winning sustains him. If Saban kept winning he would coach until the day he dies.

Probably why he kept coaching after the Covid title. Even he knew that wasn’t a real title.

I guess he just buys $700 million worth of dealerships because he wants to coach football forever.

Dude was retiring soon after making all those deals, he's retired now so you argument is 100% wrong.

Came to say the same thing, you don’t interview assistant coaches for the upcoming seasonon the same day you decide to retire if it was all planned out…

Yeah I wish they would come out and say it so we could lift them up in prayer if this is the case.

My uncle went through Alzheimer’s and it was awful to see him in that way. It’s a slow terrible death.

Is this the thread where people act like they care?

yeah, a bunch of virtue signalling asshattery.

We've all had sick uncles, wives, parents, husbands, and God forbid kids.

I don't feel any worse for Saban's wife than I do for my Aunt who has cancer. At least he's got a zillion dollars that he can use to make sure she gets the best care in the world, unlike a lot of OUR families and friends.

Josh Pate said Mrs. Terry had a health scare but is otherwise fine, and they want to spend time together.

I have no sauce, just a short clip of a podcast I saw yesterday.

BTW

The love of his life is more important than football. As it should be.

Good to hear. Pretty sickening that Alabama fans are hoping the rumor is true so we can't be as mean to them when they suck next season.

I’m an Alabama fan and I hope it’s not true because I have walked that path with three close relatives and it’s utter hell on earth, have already told my wife if I ever get that diagnosis I am not going to wind up like the people I’ve mentioned, I will do what needs to be done and take my chances with the Almighty.

Monday Jan 8, 2024 Nick Saban informed the Staff that he was retiring. Fact

Wednesday Jan 10, 2024 Dan Lanning was reported in T-Town. Sources say he was. Sources say he was not.

Wednesday Jan 10, 2024 Nick Saban informed the Team that he was retiring. Fact

Nick Saban has approved the hiring of Dan Lanning allegedly. AD

Greg Byrne will be making an official annoucement in the next 24 to 72 hours either on Dan Lanning or someone else. The Reason for Saban's Retirement?

Word is Terri Saban has Health Issues (believed to be Dementia with reports dating back to August 2023). Whatever it is, it is serious enough for Nick to retire.
