I have some family members who are huge Clemson fans. We've been jabbing back and forth since the Bama game about the potential of and LSU vs Clem NC game.

We recently had a true conversation about what each team is up against in the title game and what the most likely outcome will be.

A few takeaways:

There isn't a lot of confidence within the Clemson fan base, outside of a few die hards who genuinely think Clemson outplayed tOSU

By contrast, they were very confident against Bama due to their stout DL and believing Bama's weakness was in the secondary. Both advantages no longer exist with LSU.

They believe Clemson will score points, just not enough to keep pace with LSU. They think the running game is the X factor and will allow them to score in the first half, but won't be able to run as much in the second half due to having to keep pace with LSU.

Come on man. That doesn't inspire a lot of confidence in your team. I understand if you were a player saying that to in response to LSU players talking trash but not a fan.

I prefer honest opinions. It sparks good conversation and healthy debate. I only troll Bama fans because, well, they're Bama fans.

Judging by my facebook feed after Satuday, LSU has zero shot because we have to beat Clemson, and God Almighty.

They're arrogant, with some reason to be after they beat Bama last year.

However the truth is somewhere in the middle. They're very good, and if they would have boat raced Ohio State I'd be semi nervous at the trend of Bama last year, and now OSU this year.

However they just looked like a standard elite team.

Give me LSU, in NOLA, one game away from a Natty, with Burrow all day.

Clemson scored 29 against a better defense without Tee Higgins the entire first half

it held one of the highest scoring teams in the country to 23 points

I've made my feelings on this game known for over a month. Clemson is winning this game, there's nothing else to say at this point.

Michigan scored 27 on said defense with their 69th ranked offense.

What does this have to do with how many they scored on Ohio State's defense?

You do know the national championship will basically be a home game for LSU right?

sounds like a good excuse for Clemson if they lose

Clemson should be able to play loose in this game given almost everybody thinks LSU will win

I mean we scored 63 without Clyde, could have had 100 literally.

Let's not pick one game of a sample size. LSU scored 37 on UGA, who still hasn't given up a rushing TD this year.

We also played complete ball control ground and pound the entire 4th quarter. We could have scored 50+ on them. Based on their competition and lack of help from Offense, it's safe to say UGA's defense is better than Clemson's this year.

If Clemson beats LSU it won't be becuase their Defense stopped LSU, it will be a shoot out.

You only beat UNC by 1.
LSU has an entire better team than UNC.

The only position where Clemson has the advantage over LSU is Linebacker and Running back. Other than that, LSU is better.

Has Clemson scored over 30 on any top 50 defense theyve played this season?

Okahoma's offense had better numbers than Clemson's.
