There’s something just so wrong about South Carolina being included in the ‘Mountain Pod.’

Nope

And I responded to your reaction and said this:

True. Difficult to 1) balance power, 2) preserve geography and 3) retain rivalries.

That gauntlet of a Mountain pod just wouldn't be fair to those schools.

Way too weak. There's too much of an imbalance there. Though I like the geographical logic with this.

Eh, that depends on who you talk to. With the ESPN model that keeps being pushed, it does away with DSOR (you'ld think THAT would be kept).
Some people's ideas have "must play games/rivals" & others don't.

How so?

Because the mountain pod is significantly weaker than the gulf pod.

Bama, auburn, Georgia, and Florida is a ridiculous pod. That's super powered.

True, but keeps: Iron Bowl, WLOCP, DSOR

The other format keeps: TSIO

Maybe I'm old-fashioned, but I believe visiting fans shouldn't have to drive unreasonable distances to support their teams at opposing schools. I don't want that SEC tradition to die. My biggest fear with this pod reorg is that it won't make geographical sense thereby making traveling fanbases extinct.

Someone just say, "to hell with it" and do this:

East

AU
Bama
UGA
UF
UT
UK
USC
Vandy

West

LSU
Texas
A&M
OU
Arkansas
State
Ole Miss
Mizzou

There- 7 division games and 1 or 2 cross division.

No matter how the pods work, Alabama has to play TN and AU every year. Much like Aggy has to play t.u. every year

The one the SEC network posted is by far the best and most balanced

LSU/A&M/Ole Miss/Moo State
Texas/Okie/Arky/Missou
Bama/Aubie/Tenner/Vandy
Florida/Georgia/Kentucky/South Carolina

2 good teams 2 also rans in each pod

Which their idea puts DSOR to every OTHER year. Not gonna fly!

There’s also something wrong with a schedule that doesn’t guarantee that we play UGA every year (if somehow the OPs system came to pass).

SC-UGA have played more than most SEC matchups.

LSU and Arkansas should not be broken up. Put the Aggies with Texas, Oklahoma, and Missouri

Love how Bama fans try to frame the need to play TN as a matter of tradition instead of an annual steamroll

Funny you mention this because it's the EXACT reason I want WLOCP to rotate either between Athens/Gainesville or Atlanta/Jacksonville.

(338.4 mi.)
Athens - Jacksonville

(71.5 mi.)
Gainesville - Jacksonville

Yeah well we’re losing 3 rivalry games over this

There’s no way to keep bama/tenn, the iron bowl, and aubbie/georgia without putting all of you in the same pod which is unbalanced. And doing more permanent opponents defeats the purpose of the pods.

It’s a 16 team league now. It is what it is.

Yet NOBODY complained about Alabama when TN kept winning the game.

East: Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia
West: Texas, Oklahoma, LSU, A&M
Rotation A: Arkansas, Missouri, Ole Miss Miss State
Rotation B: Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Kentucky, South Carolina
quote:

Pods A & B rotate East & West each year to form divisions
.
Play your division: 7 Games
Rotation: 2 Games
Perm: 1 Game

Alabama Schedule
Year 1
Auburn, Florida, Georgia
Rotation A: Arkansas, Missouri, Ole Miss Miss State
West Rotation: Texas, LSU
Perm: Tennessee

Year 2
Auburn, Florida, Georgia
Rotation B: Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Kentucky, South Carolina
West Rotation: Oklahoma, A&M
Perm: Miss State

Play everyone 2x each 4 years. It is a gauntlet of a schedule, but so many good games.. but it will never happen.
