& my plan for 6 perm + 3 rotating keeps ALL rivalries played yearly; sorts 2 groups of 8 teams to see who are the SECCG contestants WITHOUT the need of tie-breakers, & allows you to play everybody once in 3 years (H/A in 6). Obviously, this is based on a 9 conf. game format.
The division plan & ONLY playing teams in your pod doesn't allow this.

Here's how I'd map the SEC's pods

Yet NOBODY complained about Alabama when TN kept winning the game.
Does anybody alive besides Joe Biden remember that? Live in the now!
You do know we're talking about the '90's......so it ain't ancient history.

I've seen this a lot on here & still can't seem to understand it.

They aren’t going to do that because of the legends and leaders fiasco in the big 10 when no causal fans knew who was in what division or who played who.
They do the pods & they can brand them and probably sell naming rights to them eventually. A single 16 team standings page is also a wall of text situation.
This is the SEC of the 21st century, this is what our presidents all voted for

Wouldn't call being in my 40's as "gramps".

Two pods should have 1 big 6 team, the other two of them.
The geography makes this hard but it can be done.
I would put bama/barn in a pod and Florida/GA LSU and UT as solo big 6 teams in their pods

Honestly, and I think this is to the benefit of all four of our teams, but no, A&M stays at your frontier pod and Arkansas enters it. It’s for a specific sport I have in mind: baseball. In 10 years people will be talking shite about being in the SEC Delta (or River as you want to call it). We are 4 elite teams, and I would like for Ole Miss, MSU, LSU, and Arkansas to stick together simply for that.

That Gulf pod would be ridiculous.
Yeah, make an Appalachia pod with Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee, and Vandy. Then do an Atlantic pod. The gulf pond would damage our conference as a whole. And this isn’t to mention that the Mountain Pod are bunch of light weights and a laughing stock.

What don’t you understand?
West + A vs East + B = Year 1
West + B vs East + A = Year 2

Yeah this works out perfectly. Honestly Tennessee has kind of been an oddball in the East when they have more in common with Auburn and Alabama than their other Eastern opponents. Alabama and Tennessee way more belong in the same conference than Ole Miss and MSU.

This. The other pods are fine.
Play Pod + 1 or 2 perm rivals + 5-6 teams on a waterfall rotation from other pods. Ensures max team rotation H and H over a 4 year period and helps keep most MAJOR rivalries in tact.
10 game SEC Conf schedule. No divisions or even need to name pods. Just create a balanced scheduling system. 10 games gives a good sample size. If SoS is worked out fairly over Pod composition and perm rival establishment, it works fine
Take best 2 Conf records (head to head is tie breaker, final reg season position in CFPs is final tiebreaker) in CCG.
If expansion of playoffs takes place, cancel CCG and the above tie breaker system becomes how we determine SEC champ.

I think this is the best attempt to balance power and preserve geography:
Terrible post. You’re out of your fricking mind if you think Ole Miss is going to split with both LSU and State. Regardless the following alignments are a very safe conclusion:
1) Texas, Texas A&M, and Oklahoma
2) LSU, Ole Miss, and State
3) Alabama, Auburn, and Tennessee
4) Florida and Georgia
The others pick from there.

Florida and LSU in the same pod? That's not very geographic. Alabama needs to be with either Georgia or Florida. Alabama without that is going to cake walk through their pod.
You just give them tough permanent opponents in the other pods. LSU would certainly have Florida and A&M as theirs. And no, Alabama is going to be very insistent (rightly I might add) to be in the same pod as Tennessee. I say just make LSU and Texas as their permanent out of pod opponents.
