Yes, great point…Completely identical situation.
JTD:
2021: Starting QB in three of 15 games...played in six games overall...team’s second-leading passer with 68 completions on 94 attempts, totaling 722 yards and seven TDs...
Stetson:
2021. Bennett began his 5th-year senior season as the backup to JT Daniels. He made his first appearance and first start of the 2021 season against the UAB Blazers after Daniels went down with an oblique injury. In that game, Bennett tied the record for most touchdowns in a game by a Georgia quarterback, with five.
Amazingly UGA was able to overcome the huge loss of JTD with an unproven walk-on!
Now let’s look at FSU…
Jordan Travis 2023
YDS 2,756. TD 20 INT 2 QBR 79.6
His replacements:
32 56 510 57.1 9.1 49 5 0 5 -34 163.1
10 25 90 40.0 3.6 28 0 0 4 -25 70.2
No doubt these two would evolve into co Heismann favorites if they could get more seasoning in the CFP this year. FSU fans would be cheering “JordanWhooooo”

In addition to what happened in 2000, FSU also got in over a more deserving TCU and Baylor back in 2014 (the first year of the CFP) and preceded to get boat raced in the first round by Oregon. But they forget about that, they need to sit down.

Bama all but lost to a terrible Auburn team at the end of the season
And then beat the #1 team in the country the following week. What about FSU almost losing to a terrible BC team? They didn't follow that up with a win over the 2 time defending champs. Bama unseated the champ, they deserve a shot.

I’m starting to wonder who would have been left out of the playoffs if FSU had Jordan Travis. FSU went 13-0 and should be in the playoffs, period. The 4th spot would have been between Texas and Alabama. Those teams actually played each other and Texas won, thus giving Texas the 4 seed. Michigan vs Texas, Washington vs FSU. End of story. But the Bama bias took over.

The dude has gone totally mental. He has a therapy dog that travels with him. And he’s nine months away. I’m going to college game day in Dublin and getting beer bottles and eggs thrown out he should be scared.

frick you undefeated. frick you defending champs. Game didn’t go according to plan. Absolutely should’ve been there anyway. Eat a bag of dicks.

Better still doesn't matter completely or UGA would be one of the top four. I would like the committee to vote for and select the most compelling matchups. Make excitement the criteria. No one wants to see FSU's third string QB.

That is actually another reason the talking heads were so bad with all of this
They convinced you and many others that the 3rd string will be quarterbacking the next game. He won’t

FSU was undefeated. Bama had 1 loss.
Thats the crux of the whole argument. Any other year the undefeated team would get the last slot.

Would FSU have a 99.9% chance of losing to a team that lost to New Mexico ?

The fact that FSU and New Mexico State would probably be a decent game should tell you everything you need to know.

The Alabama team week 2-3 would never have gotten in, they are a different team, for the better, and proved it by winning out and beating Georgia
So let me get this straight, FSU won ugly and that counts against them, against a ranked team at that, to win a P5 conference.
Bama needed two miracles to beat a bad Auburn team with the worst loss of the year and that doesn’t count against them? A team with one loss already?
Yea ok

By your logic, New Mexico shoukd give Bama trouble.

If that was Bama's last game, I could see your point. But the very next week Bama pushed around and beat the #1 team in the country.
FSU struggled with 5-7 Florida the same week as the Iron Bowl and then again VS a Louisville team that already lost to 3-9 Pitt and Kentucky.

So who should be the 4 playoff teams IYO? Michigan/Washington/FSU and...??
And BAMA.
Texas had the weaker resume. I'm basically going with the BCS eval of the top 4. I think SOR and SOS should've factored heavily into things this year because this was a year where good teams were going to be left out. By that measure Texas is out and BAMA is in alongside Mich/Wash and FSU.
I think that's the fairest and least political way of determining things.
**That said, the AP skews things a lot because AP voters think SOR matters not and is skewed by voters who refuse to acknowledge that a Sunbelt schedule isn't the same as a SEC schedule. A future formula would work on eliminating even more of that human/voter bias that is still baked into the BCS model and a top 4 would include different teams and likely ding a team like Michigan because they played no one beyond OSU but we don't have that model yet.
