Hey can we all just love one another and wish each other good luck on their respective quests in life?
Christians, I hope your children grow up to be good, devout soldiers of God. Liberals, I hope the children you don't abort grow up to be alphabet warriors in the highest order of Antifa who never touch a person of a different gender.
Now can we all just get along OTR? It's football season for crying out loud. Thank you.

You don't understand because you're hung up on the what. The Bible doesn't particularly care about "what" when it comes to matters of worship. It cares about "why".
So should you pray in the streets? Yes. If your motivation is to glorify God. Should you pray in secret? Yes. If your motivation is to glorify God. If your motivation us to glorify yourself, you shouldn't pray regardless of the location.
Well... that's not what the bible says... in some places. It specifically says to pray in private. It doesn't say if I'M a fake to do that. It says to do that because others are fakes. It says that I can't trust myself to know the difference.
Also, stop dragging me back in. It's a dumb book. The whole religion is a dumb concept -
Perfect, all-knowing god created a project he isn't happy with. Impregnates a virgin on earth with his son to be killed and dead for a couple of days, which is the only way he could fix his massive fricked up ant farm he made in all his omnipotence. Then, he has a bunch of terrible writers write down a bunch of stories in their own words, many of which just happen to resemble older stories from older cultures and religions. And everyone is supposed to say, "Yep, that makes sense."
It's childish. I understand the need to believe there's a purpose and a better place in the end. But, this stuff is just silly.
Now, for real, adios.

You can find scripture to back up just about any subjective reasoning
No, you really can't. It might appear so superficially, but subjectivity on any important matter falls away pretty quickly upon any real study.
And that "God is using him to test people's faith" is a weasel argument. First of all, that's never how God tests faith in the Bible.
And secondly, it's non falsifiable. You have absolutely no reason to believe that it would be the case here. Between your assumption and mine, Occam's razor would support my view that he picked up a few r/Atheism talking points and every Christian he's employed them upon until now has been too polite to call him on his shite.

One of these days we are all going to appreciate a wise person like you giving us a free education like this. Just not today.

Well there is it. Nothing cuts quite like the cold steel of Occam's razor. Well done sir.

Let's all chill and get back to arguing about football, shall we? I fall on the starboard side of things, but I acknowledge my friends on the port side of town to have an opinion and sometimes a very good opinion that is protected by the principles I will fight for.
But there is a board for that and this ain't it.

quote:It depends on the context. Corporate prayer is offered during church services as part of worship to God.
So, should we pray alone, or out in the streets?
What is commanded against is the public prayer of an individual that is meant to boost the person's standing before the people. It's the same thing as giving service to others for the purpose of personal reward rather than the glory of God and the building up of others.
Motive is important, which is exactly what Jesus was telling those who want to learn.

quote:As a Christian, I have a vested interest in the truth. For one, I see it as bringing glory to God to tell people the truth. Secondly, I don't want anyone to go to hell. I would love nothing more than for all people to be brought to a saving faith in Jesus Christ and be reconciled to God. When someone is an outspoken enemy of Jesus Christ, I want them to know the gospel with the hope that the Lord would use it to save them, since God uses the means of the preaching of the gospel as the ordinary way He saves people.
People get too riled up about what some random stranger believes or doesn't, Christian, atheist or otherwise. If someone "knows" they're right then what does it matter what someone else thinks? Insecurity or perceived superiority..
For Christians, it's not just a matter of differing opinions, but a literal (eternal) life and (eternal) death situation.

I would generally agree. Note, the skeptics started this argument. It's unreasonable to expect us to not defend ourselves.

I agree and you have done a masterful job.
Neither side will budge so now it is just about semantics. No point in that.

I mean technically you are correct. The bible has no mention of God using online football forum participants to test faith but let's not let semantics get in the way.

Good for Hooker, much needed today but.......... throwing stones at Tebow was a low class, cheap shot.

Gators are coming, go hide.

He has started off most games very slow this year as far as settling into his throws. He can't do that on Saturday. Florida isn't built to come from behind. If we jump up by multiple scores early we will coast from there.

This is the kind of hard-hitting debate I expect on these topics. Carry on.
When you have no argument of substance it never fails. The first words out of your damn mouths are "Fox News".
