He should have won more titles at Kentucky.

This is retarded. No offense. Cal took a talented roster, had a losing conference record, and lost to Texas Tech in the sweet 16.

That is the exact kind of season that ran him out of Lexington.

I get that Arkansas has somehow talked themselves into accepting this on the basis that there is some sort of promise that tomorrow will be better. UK certainly fell for it for years.

But the dude just took one of the most talented rosters in the conference and did what he does….disappoint and sell hope.

Eh, it's not like we gave the guy a lifetime contract. He'll be retired in 3-4 years, will have Arkansas established as a national brand, and will leave us in a solid position to make a big name hire with our next coach.

Hell of a better hire than Jerome Tang or whoever else we would have ended up with otherwise.

Good season. Thanks for allowing us to double our conference wins, too.

Now this is a reasonable post and I can somewhat appreciate the logic with it.

I don't get paid 7 million a year to lose a 16 point lead in the second biggest comeback in Sweet Sixteen history.

I could do that with a lifetime supply of spam.

I’ll be honest here - we’re not Kentucky, and very few programs are. Final 4 is a goal, not an expectation. Playing like we did down the stretch and losing a close game in the sweet 16 is something Cal could do for a long time here before ever feeling any kind of hot seat

He seems more concerned about putting players in the NBA.

I don't care.

All I care about is getting back to the final four.

This is what I and a lot of other fans said when he was hired. I’m not expecting him to stay for 10 years and win a title or two. He’ll grow our brand, maybe get a final four/a couple more deep runs in March, and leave us after 5 years in a position to hire a top tier coach. There was a real risk of hiring a Jans/Tang type of coach and sinking back to mediocrity and losing our momentum.

How many of us knew he was even on the radar? This hire came out of the blue, even for our AD. With the choices we had left it was a no brainer to take him because he wanted out of the situation he was mired in.

We had no players and he could generate a competitive roster right away, to have ignored the opportunity to hire him would have been idiotic. But some here think we should have……hmmmm.

This post was not a snipe at you Porcine…just my observation.

I wasn’t saying he was on our radar and that I was arguing for him to be hired, just that after he was hired it made sense in that regard.

I just piggybacked your post, not addressing it in particular. I thought I explained that.

99% of schools would totally accept Sweet 16 appearances.

Every legitimate coach is supposed to sell his fan base on a better tomorrow.

Every coach has a talented roster and disappointments. Depends what your expectations are.

Started going cold and taking bad shots. Taco Tech started getting hot.
