Southern as soul food?
(Aka mash taters, chicken fired stuff, "greens", etc)
Yeah that stuff is bland.
And I personally don't like much seafood so Gulf Coast food has minimal appeal. I have never met a seafood gumbo I like more than a chicken and sausage gumbo.
Po Boys can be awesome, but it think it is the insides- aka fries gulf oysters. I bet a fried oyster taco would be even better.

oh shite
Spending last summer in austin spoiled my taste buds. So much variety and such good quality. For BBQ, La Barbecue was the best I had. I didn't have the patience for Franklin's

It has a few decent things, but if I could pick Texas brisket and Tex Mex or grits and all the deep fried shite that makes up "so called southern food", I'll take Texas food.
Ideally I'd take Texas and Louisiana food both. The rest can frick itself. I'm not a fan of breaded fried anything.

I got your "IAIFL" and almost lol'd in class.
I had Chinese food from the restaurant just Magazine from my place, Jung's Golden Dragon.
It's cheap AF and they give you gigantic portions.

Yeah, that's got nothing to do with you.
A huge chunk of the population footprint that drives the network's revenue is in our borders, but that has nothing to do with us because you said so.
You know Rebel, I kind missed your more sincere dissing of Aggie. It has gotten too formulaic recently.

Dry rub ribs are for pussies

So, they're your favorite then?

This. Unbelievable seafood, great creole/cajun food, and a very underrated Italian scene. Then you have your Southern cuisine joints.
I'm amazed at how Texas has such a high volume of great Tex Mex and BBQ, yet none of it trickles down to Louisiana. There's so much untapped potential in those two categories in Louisiana

Naa. I have always been partial to a tangy and spicy sauce, like Birmingham joints.

Its is weird, I was born in NOLA (well Metairie) but outside of fish tacos (and then only pussy fish like tilapia) and fried oysters I really dislike seafood. It is like God knew I would be an Aggie.
I like red meat too much. Been eating more pork recently for health reasons, and because it is the best meat at Freebirds.

Yeah, Texas has incredible TexMex (naturally) and it rarely translates outside the state's borders for some reason. Nobody else takes as much pride in it, I guess.

Texas is about as good of a food state as there is. BBQ, Tex-Mex, and plenty of cajun that leaks out from Louisiana.
